Mumbai, India: Shield Armoring Private Limited, a leading player in India’s armored mobility space and a provider of advanced bulletproofing solutions, has unveiled the PAMA-APC, a next-generation Armored Personnel Carrier engineered for defence, paramilitary, and high-risk security operations. Built on the proven Toyota Hilux platform, the PAMA-APC is designed to deliver a strong combination of protection, mobility, and operational adaptability in complex and hostile environments.
The PAMA-APC is powered by a 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder engine that produces 201 bhp at 3000–3400 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 1600–2800 rpm, enabling robust performance across varied terrains. Equipped with a 4×4 drivetrain and manual transmission, the vehicle is capable of navigating rugged landscapes, off-road conditions, and urban conflict zones with equal ease. Its ground clearance of over 200 mm and a wheelbase of 3085 mm further enhance stability and manoeuvrability, ensuring reliability during critical missions.
The PAMA-APC is currently being deployed by the Maharashtra Police and Arunachal Pradesh Police. The company is also in final-stage negotiations with several other state police forces for the induction of these vehicles into their fleets. The vehicle is a strong fit for both urban and rural tactical operations.
Designed with both compactness and functionality in mind, the PAMA-APC measures 4900 mm in length, 1730 mm in width, and 2210 mm in height. It accommodates six personnel in a 1+5 seating configuration, making it suitable for small squad deployments and rapid-response operations. The vehicle’s design allows for efficient movement in narrow urban environments while maintaining adequate internal space for personnel and mission-essential equipment.
At the core of the PAMA-APC is Shield Armoring’s advanced protection technology. The vehicle features certified ballistic steel and multi-layered bullet-resistant glass, providing CEN Level BR6 protection against high-velocity threats. It also incorporates an armored roof to guard against elevated attacks and is equipped with run-flat tyre systems that allow continued mobility even after tyre damage. The overall structure is reinforced to withstand impact and blast scenarios, ensuring maximum occupant safety in high-threat environments.
The PAMA-APC has been developed to meet a wide spectrum of defence and security requirements, including troop transportation in conflict zones, border patrol, reconnaissance missions, counter-insurgency operations, and law enforcement deployment in volatile situations. Its payload capacity supports the carriage of tactical gear, while an operational range of approximately 400 miles enables sustained field deployment. The braking system, with front disc and rear drum configuration, ensures controlled stopping power under demanding conditions.
With PAMA-APC, Shield Armoring Private Limited strengthens its portfolio of advanced armored vehicles and reinforces its commitment to supporting defence and security forces with reliable, high-performance mobility solutions built for evolving threat landscapes. The PAMA-APC reflects this philosophy, offering a dependable and mission-ready solution for modern defence forces.
