• Honored in recognition for MIAL’s exceptional role in the area of Supply Chain

Mumbai, November 22, 2019: GVK-led Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), managing the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), has added another feather to its cap by bagging the prestigious ‘Outstanding Contribution to Supply Chain’ Award at the 5th Asian Supply Chain Thought Leadership Summit 2019. The award is an acknowledgement of the exceptional contribution made to the supply chain industry – particularly by adapting and leveraging the idea of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM). The award ceremony was held in Mumbai on November 21, 2019.

Contributing to the environment in a sustainable way has always been of prime importance at CSMIA. CSMIA has been at the forefront in introducing new digital solutions in air cargo supply chain. It is India’s first airport to introduce web-based Air Cargo Community Platform (GMAX) and Air Cargo Custodian Mobile Application. The airport was also awarded with ‘CEIV Pharma” certification by IATA – the quality milestone for Pharma Logistics, making MIAL the first airport in India and third in Asia to achieve this validation. CSMIA has achieved numerous accolades for integrating sustainable environmental processes into the traditional air cargo movement.

An airport is an integral part of the supply chain network comprising of multiple organisations – suppliers, airlines, airport operators, customs, security and immigration. With the influence of Green Supply Chain Management, MIAL has created value throughout the organisations to reduce any hazardous environmental impact. Furthermore, MIAL is the first and the only airport in India to publish the Sustainability Report as per the latest GRI Standards and it holds the platinum rating within the Existing Building (O&M) Rating System for its environmentally sustainable profile.
