Tainan, October 25, 2026 – Vietjet has inaugurated its direct Hanoi–Tainan service, becoming the only Vietnamese airline to serve Tainan Airport (TNN). The new route further expands Vietjet’s network in Northeast Asia, offering passengers more convenient travel options while fostering tourism, trade and cultural exchange between Vietnam and the region.
The inaugural ceremony was held at Tainan Airport, attended by Yeh Tse-shan, Deputy Mayor of Tainan City, alongside representatives of local authorities, partners and Vietjet’s leadership. Vietjet flight VJ1942 from Hanoi landed in Tainan on the morning of October 25 and received a warm welcome with a traditional water cannon salute on the apron. Later that day, flight VJ1943 departed Tainan for Hanoi, marking the official launch of the new route.
The new route operates four round-trip flights per week, providing convenient connections between the two cities with a flight time of approximately two to three hours. Through Vietjet’s continuously expanding network, passengers from Tainan can also easily connect to destinations across Vietnam, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, Australia and Europe.
Vietjet’s Chief Executive Officer Nguyen Thanh Son said: “Every new route connects more than two destinations on a map; it also opens up new opportunities for people, businesses and communities. Vietjet believes that a flight can shorten geographical distances, while connectivity, mutual understanding and opportunities for shared growth bring people closer together. We hope the Hanoi–Tainan route will become a lasting bridge, helping promote tourism, economic exchange and stronger community ties.”
While Hanoi captivates visitors with its blend of timeless charm and modern vibrancy, refined cuisine and rich history reflected in every corner of its Old Quarter, Tainan is often regarded as the historical and cultural site. Vietjet’s direct service not only brings the two destinations closer together but also creates more opportunities for visiting family and friends, tourism, trade and cultural exchange.
The launch of the Hanoi–Tainan route further underscores Vietjet’s commitment to expanding its international network, enhancing connectivity between destinations and meeting passengers’ diverse travel needs. Vietjet has recently launched the Hanoi–Almaty and Hanoi–Prague routes, extending its network into Central Asia and Europe. From now through January 2027, the airline continues to introduce new routes, including Ho Chi Minh City–Chiang Mai; Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City–Cebu and Clark; Da Nang–Osaka (Kansai); and Ho Chi Minh City–Maldives. Vietjet will also launch its second route to Sydney, serving the newly opened Western Sydney Airport.
With an expanding network, a modern fleet, friendly service and competitive fares, Vietjet continues to offer passengers more opportunities to discover new destinations, enjoy convenient journeys and connect with the world.
