Moscow. 18 August 2022. Russian Deputy Defence Minister Timur Ivanov said at ARMY 2022 International Military and Technical Forum that “rebuilding the destroyed towns of Donbass, including Mariupol, is a priority task for Russian military builders”.

“Reconstruction of Donbass is the number one priority. When military builders first saw the condition of the cities and towns after the hostilities and the conditions ordinary people found themselves in, many had tears in their eyes. And then none of the military construction workers refused to work in Donbass. They entered the sites and stayed there for several months without going home,” he said.

According to Ivanov, the first two residential buildings in Mariupol out of the 12 planned will be commissioned by the military construction workers already in September. The same month the medical complex with 200 beds in Lugansk will be commissioned.

Ivanov also noted the “shocking” work of the military construction company to restore the water supply in Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics. In a month and a half, despite the firing of Ukrainian troops, a 90-kilometre water conduit was built, providing drinking water to Donetsk and several other settlements in the republic. Four more water pipelines are currently under construction to provide a vital resource to the inhabitants of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
