• Marks a key milestone in the Group’s expansion into small arms and ammunition manufacturing

Tembo Global Industries Limited, listed on the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE: TEMBO) and BSE Limited, today marked a significant milestone in its expansion into defence manufacturing with the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony for its proposed defence manufacturing facility in Amravati, Maharashtra.

The ceremony represents a significant step forward in the Group’s efforts to establish a dedicated manufacturing presence in the defence and security sector, complementing its established engineering, industrial products and infrastructure businesses. The proposed facility is being developed through the Company’s subsidiary, Tembo Classic Engineering Private Limited (TCEPL), as part of its long-term strategy to build capabilities in small arms and ammunition manufacturing.

The Amravati project builds on the Group’s earlier initiatives to enter the defence manufacturing sector, including its strategic engagement with the Government of Maharashtra and the development of its proposed manufacturing facility in the state. The project is aligned with India’s broader objectives of strengthening domestic defence production, encouraging indigenous manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports in strategically important sectors.

TCEPL has received a licence from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, for the manufacture of ammunition of various calibres and has also obtained a small-arms manufacturing licence. These regulatory milestones provide an important foundation for the development of the Group’s defence manufacturing capabilities, subject to applicable statutory requirements and project implementation.

The Company intends to progressively develop the infrastructure, manufacturing capabilities and operational readiness required to support its planned entry into the arms and ammunition market. The project is expected to strengthen Tembo’s strategic positioning in a sector where domestic manufacturing capabilities, technology development and supply-chain resilience remain important national priorities.

Through this initiative, Tembo Global Industries aims to build a platform for participation in relevant domestic and international defence markets, subject to applicable regulations, customer requirements and export authorisations. The project also reflects the Group’s broader diversification strategy, which seeks to create additional long-term growth opportunities alongside its existing businesses.

Commenting on the occasion, Sanjay J. Patel, Managing Director, Tembo Global Industries Limited, said:

“The Bhoomi Poojan ceremony for our proposed defence manufacturing facility in Amravati marks an important milestone in Tembo Global Industries’ journey towards building a presence in India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem. This is more than the beginning of a facility; it represents our long-term commitment to developing manufacturing capabilities in strategically important areas such as small arms and ammunition.

With the necessary manufacturing licences secured and the project progressing towards its next phase, we are focused on building the infrastructure, operational capabilities and partnerships required to establish a strong foundation for this business. We recognise the importance of disciplined execution, quality, regulatory compliance and technology development in the defence sector, and these principles will guide our approach as we move forward.

Our expansion into defence manufacturing complements our established engineering and industrial businesses and reflects our confidence in India’s growing domestic manufacturing capabilities. Guided by the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, we aim to create a sustainable platform that can serve relevant market requirements while contributing to the country’s broader defence manufacturing objectives. We look forward to advancing this project in a phased and responsible manner and creating long-term value for all our stakeholders.”
