AircraftChiba, Japan. 13 March 2023. You’ll find us located at stand H7-430 where you will be able to see some of the solutions and services we provide to air forces and navies around the world.

SECURING THE SKIES
As the European leader in air dominance missiles, we provide comprehensive effector solutions for operators of current combat and future aircraft, including the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning 2.

At DSEI Japan 2023 visitors to our stand will be able to find out everything they need to know about Meteor, the Beyond Visual Range Air-To-Air Missile, and the SPEAR family of network-enabled precision surface attack and electronic warfare capabilities.

Meteor has revolutionised air-to-air combat in the 21st century with the largest No Escape Zone of any air-to-air missile system, several times greater than current air-to-air missiles. Network-enabled capability and effective operation in all environments will enhance air superiority and total destruction of a combat air threat.

SPEAR is the solution for a strike weapon that can operate in all conditions, against severe countermeasures and attack moving and manoeuvring targets. Its beyond-the-horizon reach ensures its launching fighter jet remains safely away from hostile air defence units. The precision effects warhead allows for a reduction in the number of different weapons within a loadout while extending the operator’s air-to-ground capability with a low collateral damage, and providing high aircraft survivability.

MBDA is currently supporting Lockheed Martin to integrate these world-leading weapons onto F-35 adding to complement the F-35’s capabilities as part of the aircrafts’ load-out.

MBDA will also be showcasing SPEAR-EW. The solution to a wide range of Suppression of Enemy Air Defence (SEAD) missions. Integrating the proven SPEAR airframe with a miniaturised Electronic Warfare (EW) payload, it provides both stand-in jammer and decoy capabilities, greatly increasing platform survivability and acting as a significant force multiplier in a complex anti access/area denial (A2AD) threat environments.

MASTERING THE SEAS
MBDA is also showcasing its Naval Based Air Defence (NBAD) capability with the CAMM (Common Anti-air Modular Missile) and the Sea Ceptor ship-based, all-weather, weapon system.

CAMM provides a high rate of fire against multiple simultaneous targets and thanks to its novel soft vertical launch technology, which also provides a minimal launch signature and 360° coverage. Being a compact munition allows for a multiple weapons fit in limited spaces, and CAMM can be ‘quad-packed’ into the Mk 41 VLS.

In service with the UK’s Royal Navy, CAMM and Sea Ceptor is providing area and point defence for a growing number of operators such as Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, Canada and Saudi Arabia.

CAMM has also demonstrated its system flexibility by being contracted for integration into the UK Royal Navy’s Type 45 destroyers and their Sea Viper weapon system.

GLOBAL COMBAT AIR PROGRAMME (GCAP)
As Effects Domain lead, MBDA will also be present on the GCAP stand at DSEI Japan demonstrating our work with the multi-national GCAP team to ensure that this next generation platform is matched to the next generation of effectors.
