Bombay Sappers celebrates 198th Group DayPune. 31 January 2018. The Bombay Sappers celebrated its Reunion 2018 wef 28 to 31 January 2018 at Bombay Engineer Group & Centre, Kirkee. The Reunion, which is organised every four years, coincided with the 198th Group Day, thus completing 198 glorious years of valour and excellence of the Bombay Sappers. Reunion 2018 also provided an opportunity to all serving ranks of Bombay Sappers to interact with the veterans and share their experiences.

Since inception, The Bombay Sappers have not only proven their prowess in battle, but have also utilised their engineering knowledge in nation building. Construction of Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at Mumbai by the Centre in challenging conditions are testimony to this.

Reunion was held with traditional fervor with various events to include Cross Country Championship, Regimental Get-together, Commemoration Parade, Para Motor display & Para Jump and Special Sainik Sammelan by Lieutenant General D Anbu, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Colonel of the SIKHLI Regiment & Honorary Colonel Commandant of The Bombay Sappers. An AWWA Mela was also organised to showcase various endeavours being undertaken towards welfare of families of all ranks of Bombay Sappers.

Bombay Sappers celebrates 198th Group DayLieutenant General D Anbu, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Colonel of the SIKHLI Regiment & Honorary Colonel Commandant of The Bombay Sappers addressed the troops during the Special Sainik Sammelan on 31 January 2018. The Colonel Commandant’s Banner was presented to 110 Engineer Regiment for being adjudged as the best Regiment of the Bombay Sappers for the year 2016-17. General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command also awarded on the spot commendation cards to five Bombay Sappers individuals for outstanding contribution.

Bombay Sappers celebrates 198th Group DayThe most significant event of the celebrations was the Ceremonial Parade on 31 January 2018 which was organised to pay tribute to The Bombay Sappers war heroes and martyrs. The impressive Parade was reviewed by Lieutenant General D Anbu, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Sena Medal, GOC-in-C, Northern Comd, Colonel of the SIKHLI Regiment & Honorary Colonel Commandant of The Bombay Sappers and attended by about 1000 veterans & serving personnel.
