New Delhi. 25 October 2026. Lagos Takes Command as AFRIDEX 2026 Prepares for Debut. The countdown has begun. Africa’s defence priorities will command international attention as Lagos prepares to welcome the inaugural Africa International Defence Exhibition, AFRIDEX 2026. Opening on 26 October, the four-day gathering will bring capability requirements, industrial partnerships and emerging technologies into a shared forum, creating opportunities to connect African security needs with expertise and manufacturing capacity from across the world.
Scheduled for 26–29 October at Eko Atlantic, Lagos, Nigeria, AFRIDEX will bring together government representatives, military leaders, capability planners, manufacturers and technology providers. Held under the patronage of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and hosted by the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, the exhibition will span the Land, Maritime, Air, Cybersecurity and Space domains.
For an inaugural exhibition, the ambition extends beyond displaying equipment. The organisers have positioned AFRIDEX as a platform for structured engagement on capability development, interoperability, industrial resilience and training-led operational readiness. Its relevance will lie in bringing those priorities into direct conversation with the organisations able to support them.
From Capability Requirements to Industrial Partnerships
The exhibition will provide a setting for participants to examine how equipment, training, technology and sustainment can work together to meet operational requirements. Alongside procurement discussions, attention will centre on the industrial capacity and supply chains needed to support capabilities throughout their service lives.
Prime contractors, original equipment manufacturers, small and medium enterprises and technology developers will have opportunities to engage with government and military stakeholders. For prospective partners, the gathering will offer a platform to understand African requirements more closely and explore practical avenues for cooperation.
Autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, cyber capabilities and space-enabled services will form part of the wider technology landscape represented at the event. Their inclusion will place emerging capabilities alongside the enduring requirements of readiness, reliable support and interoperability.
A Global Media Network for African Defence Perspectives
Ahead of the opening, AFRIDEX announced a 26-partner Official Media Partnership Programme intended to broaden international reporting on African defence and security priorities.
The network is led by Defense News as Platinum Media Partner, DefenceWeb as Strategic Partner and Military Africa as Gold Media Partner. It brings together publications serving audiences across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas, with coverage ranging from military procurement and aerospace to cybersecurity, biometrics and industrial development.
Aviation & Defence Universe (ADU) is among the exhibition’s Bronze Media Partners, joining the international network reporting on the event and the issues it seeks to address.
The organisers said participating publications would receive access to expert briefings, interview opportunities, research, imagery and government, military and industry perspectives as arrangements were confirmed. The programme is intended to help publications develop coverage relevant to their regional audiences and specialist readerships.
Nick Ornstien, Vice President, dmg events, described the response as a significant endorsement of the inaugural exhibition.
“Securing this calibre of specialist media support for the inaugural edition of AFRIDEX is exceptional,” he said.
He added that the programme’s importance extended beyond publicity for the event, offering international professionals greater opportunities to understand African priorities and giving publications access to original stories and informed perspectives.
“The support we have received reflects confidence in AFRIDEX and growing belief in Africa’s role as an increasingly important hub for defence and security capability, industrial cooperation and innovation,” Ornstien stated.
Nigeria Hosts a Platform for Wider Engagement
For Nigeria, AFRIDEX will provide an opportunity to convene international stakeholders around defence-industrial development and security cooperation. The involvement of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria places an industrial institution at the centre of the exhibition’s hosting framework.
For visiting delegations and companies, the event will offer a concentrated opportunity to engage with capability planners, manufacturers and potential partners. For professional audiences following developments from outside Lagos, the media programme will widen access to the discussions and announcements emerging from the exhibition.
Registration has been opened to eligible defence and security professionals, government representatives, armed forces personnel, industry stakeholders and other qualified attendees, subject to security vetting and approval.
As the doors prepare to open at Eko Atlantic, AFRIDEX’s first test will be its ability to turn international interest into purposeful engagement. Lagos will provide the meeting ground; the exhibition’s lasting value will depend on the partnerships, industrial opportunities and capability solutions that take shape beyond it.
