Bengaluru, India, 8 September 2026: A 12-member Australian space industry delegation led by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) is participating at the 9th edition of Bengaluru Space Expo 2026 (BSX 2026). The Australian space companies are showcasing their Australian capabilities and exploring business opportunities in India’s space and adjacent technology sectors. 

The delegation visit is supported by the Australian Space Agency, Invest and Trade Western Australia, Government of Western Australia and Space Industry Association of Australia (SIAA).

Austrade’s space industry delegation to Bengaluru Space Expo 2026 is a part of the Australian Government’s Accessing New Markets Initiative and South Asia Business Exchange program.

Australia is one of the Tech Country partners at this year’s edition of Bengaluru Space Expo 2026.

At Bengaluru Space Expo 2026, the Australian delegation is showcasing a diverse range of Australian space capabilities, including:

Launch and return services; 

Earth observation solutions; 

Bio-inspired sensing technologies; 

Cold spray additive manufacturing innovations; 

Space biology and microgravity research services; 

Software for in-space servicing; 

Space radiation testing; 

Electric propulsion system; 

Space and artificial intelligence research; 

Radio astronomy; 

Advanced communications and data-intensive technologies.  

Besides the BSX 2026, the Australian Space Industry delegation made site-visits and met with Indian companies to understand the India’s space ecosystem and explored collaboration opportunities.

Key Highlights of Australia – India partnerships at Bengaluru Space Expo 2026

LatConnect 60 and New Space India Limited: 

Australia’s LatConnect 60 (LC60) and India’s NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) are entering into an agreement that will enable LC60’s SWIRSAT mission to access and leverage NSIL’s ground-station infrastructure in India, supporting the mission’s operations and data downlink requirements.

The University of Western Australia and Space Industry Association of India: 

Australia’s The University of Western Australia (UWA) and Space Industry Association of India intend to collaborate through the UWA Global Engagement Alliance to strengthen engagement across education, research and industry and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and opportunities between the two organisations. 

  • Space Angel and Inbound Aerospace: 

Australia’s Space Angel Group Pty Ltd and India’s Inbound Aerospace have established the suitability of Space Angel’s spaceports for the recovery of Inbound’s autonomous, reusable capsule and returned microgravity payloads, and are jointly working through the technical details and the return authorisation pathway. The parties intend to progress this work to definitive commercial agreements for recovery site access and operations.

  • Space Angel and Red Balloon Aerospace: 

Australia’s Space Angel Group Pty Ltd and India’s Red Balloon Aerospace Private Limited collaborate to support future commercial space missions, including the safe return of spacecraft and resources obtained from asteroids and other celestial bodies, advancing research, sustainable industrial applications, and long-term benefits for humanity.

India’s expanding space economy, growing private-sector participation and increasing demand for advanced technologies create significant opportunities for collaboration with Australian counterparts. The Australian delegation will use BSX 2026 to strengthen existing relationships and explore new partnerships spanning technology development, research, manufacturing, mission support, and commercial applications.
