New Delhi. 25 June 2019.  S S Deswal, Director General Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) called on Amit Shah Indian Home Minister.

Apart from discussion on various issues, Deswal briefed the about the retrieval mission of the bodies in the high Himalayas of missing mountaineers from Nanda Devi East by ITBP mountaineers.

He also briefed the Minister abut ITBP’s support on ongoing Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from two routes i.e. through Lipulekh and Nathu La Passes respectively.

The Minister was also explained various Border Area Development Program and Civic Action Program conducted by the ITBP in deployment areas of the Force at the border and Left Wing Extremism hit states and how the Force is training the local youth in sports like Hockey and Archery in Chhattisgarh.

ITBP has been primarily deployed to guard the 3488 KMs long India China borders in typical harsh weather and terrain conditions since its inception in 1962. The Force personnel are well known for their special mountaineering skills.
