Moscow. The first meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the XIV International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2019, chaired by Denis Manturov – the Head of the Organizing Committee and the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation – took place.

Executives and responsible specialists reported on the progress in the creation of the exhibition, business and demonstration program of the exhibition, on measures to ensure flight safety, public safety, access control and transport services.

Opening the work of the organizing committee, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov drew special attention to the status of the airshow, the largest international aerospace exhibition held in 2019 with the partner participation of the People’s Republic of China. “MAKS traditionally attracts participants and visitors from dozens of countries in the world and this year a demonstration of the latest developments of the Russian and Chinese industry will only increase the interest in it. Exhibition and business programs of the airshow should be structured in such a way as to help transform advanced developments into commercially successful products and ensure a visible presence on the international market”, – he stated.

According to the Minister, over 350 companies have confirmed their participation in MAKS-2019, including almost all the leading Russian enterprises of the aerospace industry. There are also applications from companies from 20 countries, not counting the participants of the business program. Exhibit spaces have been booked for national expositions of France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Canada, and Belgium. Work is underway to form national expositions of the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Alexander Levin, CEO of Aviasalon JSC, made a report on preparations to the MAKS-2019. He noted the positive dynamics in a number of indicators, which allows us to hope that the level of 2017 will be maintained and exceeded. “The analysis of applications submitted at this time shows, at a minimum, the preservation of the level of 2017 by the number of exhibitors and the rented exhibition space, namely, at least 42 thousand square meters. The number of visitors we expect is at least half a million people”, – he said, adding that the work on the formation of the exposition is in the active phase, more than 85% of the exhibition space has been reserved.

For the first time the airshow will host a newly formed special “Made in Russia” section that will unite in a separate pavilion various expositions of enterprises from Tatarstan Republic, Ulyanovsk, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm and Smolensk regions. The focus of the section will be on products and services of supplier companies of 2-4 levels. Another innovation will be a Cargo Village project with the participation of the An-124 and Il-76 aircraft of the Volga-Dnepr Group of Companies. This site will demonstrate unique opportunities for the development of the export of air freight services.

The “University science and aviation-technical creativity of youth ” will be further developed and will have a different format this year. In a uniform exposition and communication space, innovative designs made by students will be demonstrated, business communication will take place. Participants in the program will not only be leading universities of Russia, but also research and educational centers, engineering centers, universities that are participants in the 5-100 program, the Skolkovo Foundation, departments for working with universities and young professionals from leading enterprises in the industry. For the third time, the “Student Day” will be held, in which students of specialized higher and secondary specialized educational institutions will have the opportunity to visit MAKS for free and take part in vocational guidance events for airshow participants.

The renewal of the exhibition and business program of the exhibition necessitated the development of the exhibition complex. It is planned to expand the specialized areas for business activity, including negotiation areas and the congress center. About 50 conferences, round tables and other events are expected. The practice of organizing business briefings will be continued, at which participants will discuss issues of developing cooperation in both the Russian and foreign markets.

Alexander Levin has paid special attention to the topic of ensuring the transport accessibility of the event. Seven free bus routes will be introduced to deliver airshow visitors to the exhibition complex, and negotiations are underway with Russian Railways to increase the number of trains over the weekend. The organization of the movement of vehicles is discussed with the administration of the city of Zhukovsky and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate in order to ensure the priority movement of buses with visitors along certain routes. The practice of organizing a special parking lot at the Bykovo airfield will continue, and seven parking lots will be equipped for different categories of visitors. “Preserving the number of equipped checkpoints with a large number of points of passage and cash pavilions, as well as the distribution of flows by categories of visitors will allow for faster passage of guests to the exhibition area”, – said the head of Aviasalon JSC.

The closest event in terms of preparation for the MAKS-2019 will be the photo exhibition “Stars of MAKS in Zaryadye Park”. The exposition will be based on works by professionals and amateurs dedicated to MAKS airshows. The best shots will be selected during the competition, which has already started on social networks. As expected, in three weeks of the exhibition, about two million people will become its visitors.

The representative of the Airspace Forces of the Russian Federation made a report in which he highlighted the participation of the Russian Airspace Forces in the event. The flight program will be attended by three aerobatic teams: “Russian Knights”, “Swifts” and “Falcons of Russia”. 18 aircraft will be presented at the static exhibition.

Also, during the meeting of the Organizing Committee, several reports on flight safety and public safety at the event were presented. The head of the Interdepartmental Control Commission for monitoring the implementation of flight rules with regard to safety requirements was approved and the regulations of the temporary operational headquarters for law enforcement and public safety at MAKS-2019 were presented.

International aviation and space salon MAKS-2019 will be held in Zhukovsky, Moscow region, according to the Government Decree №2403-p of 30.10.2017 and the order of the Government of Russian Federation №2523-р of 20.11.2018. Ministry of Industry and Trade and the State Corporation for assistance in development, production and export of high-tech industrial produce “Rostec” have been appointed as event organizers. MAKS-2019 is hosted by the Aviasalon JSC.
