Moscow. 21 August 2022. VIII ARMY International Military and Technical Forum has concluded its work. Events of ARMY 2022 IMTF were held from 15 to 21 August at the facilities of the Patriot Military-Patriotic Park of Culture and Leisure of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Alabino training ground, Kubinka airfield, as well as at 35 sites in the military districts and the Northern Fleet and in more than 30 entities of Russia.

Over the years, the Forum has established itself as a reputable international congress and exhibition platform where specialists in the military-technical field interact effectively and showcase cutting-edge achievements of Russian and foreign manufacturers of military and dual-use products. In 2022, the expanded programme and large-scale international representation was a direct testament to the failure of the West’s sanctions policy of international isolation of Russia.

During the seven days of the Forum, 1,903,536 people attended the events. The format of the Forum included exhibitions, demonstrations and scientific and business programmes, as well as cultural and artistic events.

The Forum was attended by official military delegations from 85 foreign countries, including 18 high-level ones. The total number of representatives of foreign military departments was 700 people.160 bilateral meetings were held with foreign partners, including: 17 with the Russian Ministry of Defence, 34 with FSMTC of Russia and 109 with Rosoboronexport.

The Forum was attended by more than 1,497 enterprises and organizations  that presented over 28,536 samples of military and dual-use products.Three foreign countries – Belarus, Iran and China – presented national exhibitions.

Static expositions was formed in the pavilions and open areas of the Patriot Congress and Exhibition Centre, Alabino training ground and Kubinka airfield with a total area of more than 340,000 square meters.The pavilions of the Central Exhibition Complex were formed of: exposition of artificial intelligence, radioelectronic and information technologies; exposition of the best developments of ERA Military Technopolis, scientific companies, research and educational organisations of the Ministry of Defence; specialised Military Education exhibition at which universities and pre-university organisations of the Russian Ministry of Defence will demonstrate their scientific and technical achievements.

Products of Russia’s Leading Defence Industry Enterprises exhibition was held on the basis of the demonstration and exhibition pavilions. Key enterprises of the Russian defence industry complex will demonstrate promising developments of military and special equipment, as well as samples of high-tech dual-use products.

Separate pavilion hosts Diversification of Russia’s Defence Industry exposition, which presents the capabilities of defence industry enterprises to produce innovative civilian products.

Specialised exhibition of advanced weaponry, military and special equipment will feature 6 remotely-controlled combat modules and 7 samples of armoured vehicles. Among the samples presented are 57mm Epokha and Kinzhal combat modules, 30mm Boomerang-BM and Typhoon-VDV-BM combat modules, BMP (IFV) B-19 with Epokha combat module, BMP B-11 Kurganets-25, BMP-3 with Kynzhal combat module and others.

Rosoboronexport has put together an exposition of export-oriented examples of weapons, military and specialised equipment. Pavilions and open-air exhibition area feature large-scale displays by Rosatom and Roscosmos state corporations. The pavilions of the industrial complex hosted the International Exhibition “Products of leading enterprises of the Russian defence industry” Key enterprises of the Russian defence industry complex demonstrated about 850 promising developments of weapons for military and special equipment, as well as samples of high-tech dual-use products.6 demonstration and exhibition complexes: Rostec State Corporation, Kalashnikov Concern JSC, United Aircraft Corporation PJSC, United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC, Tactical Missile Arms Corporation JSC, Almaz-Antey Concern JSC with a total area of over 37,000 square metres demonstrated various interactive facilities, including state-of-the-art specialist training simulators and virtual reality simulators.

More than 3,500 people attended the joint exhibition, launched by 17 science companies, the Commission for Innovative Projects and Technology and the Russian Ministry of Defence’s Innovation Day. The number of exhibits presented in 2022 has reached 92.

From the availability of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, 351 units of weapons, military and special equipment were presented in static and dynamic demonstration on the main forum site (Patriot Centre, Alabino training ground and Kubinka airfield).

Demonstration programme at Alabino training ground for the benefit of foreign delegations included a dynamic demonstration of the capabilities of 15 units of military equipment  with high export potential.

Aviation demonstration of the Forum at Kubinka airfield presented 50 units of aviation and special equipment, and the flight programme included demonstration performances by aerobatic groups of the Aerospace Forces – The Swifts, The Russian Knights, First Flight, in addition to solo aerobatics performed by Yak-130, Su-30, Mig-29, Extra and Mi-28n, a demonstration flight of MS-21-300 aircraft.

The Forum demonstration programme at Alabino training ground was presented in individual episodes demonstrating the capabilities of weapons, military and specialised equipment.

Programme of events at Kubinka airfield includes a gliding competition for young spectators, master classes in model aircraft assembly and aeronautical drawing, as well as the launch of model of planes and aerial combat game.

The Forum has become an authoritative discussion platform and plays an important role in bringing civil society and the military closer together, raising the prestige of the Armed Forces, making young people proud of their country, and strengthening inter-state defence ties.

Since 2015, the number of scientific-business events has increased every year, reaching a record number of 340 this year (187 round tables, 52 conferences, 69 briefings and 32 meetings). The events of the scientific-business programme were attended by heads and representatives of state authorities, senior staff of the Russian Ministry of Defence, well-known public figures, military experts, general designers and leading scientists. The total number of participants was 21,706, of whom 2,598 were highly qualified specialists. Representatives of delegations from 70 foreign countries attended the public part of the meetings.Highlights of the scientific business programme were:Diversification of DIC Congress, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov;

Artificial Intelligence Technologies and Strategic Leadership Congress, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko;

X Moscow Conference on International Security. I International Anti-Fascist Congress;

Conference ‘The Army and Society.  Mental Warfare Technologies” with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov and First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Ruslan Tsalikov.

III International Fire and Rescue Congress organised by EMERCOM.

The Forum’s scientific-business programme took place in the military districts and the Northern Fleet.

During the Forum, the Russian Ministry of Defence concluded 36 state contracts with 24 defence industry enterprises for a total sum of over 525 billion roubles.

As a result of these contracts, the Russian Armed Forces will receive more than 3,700 new items of equipment and over 100 units of military and special equipment will be repaired and modernised.

Rosoboronexport has signed two contracts worth more than $390 million within the framework of military-technical cooperation.

277 military experts from 28 interested military authorities pre-selected and included 240 promising innovative developments and projects in a consolidated register.

Highlight of the Forum’s dynamic programme was Dronbiathlon 2022, a championship in unmanned aerial vehicle and robotics control. Its main feature this year was the focus on developing this area in the current politico-military situation. Three Russian teams of professional drone racing pilots, a team of scientific company operators from the Military Innovation Technopolis ERA, representatives of the Military Research and Training Centre of the Air Force “Military Air Academy”, two teams from the Lyceum-Engineering Centre from Kazan and one foreign team from Turkey took part in the competition First place went to a team of professional drone racing pilots from Nizhny Novgorod.

Roboteca 2022, exhibition of innovations and advanced information technology, brought together a multi-format cluster, including an interactive exhibition of robotics and advanced technology, educational events, accessible functional upper limb prostheses with a high level of service, presentation of robotic complexes capabilities, popularization of advanced scientific achievements and developments, in one place at the forum.

The exhibition included the group stage of the second robot-controlled football tournament. Teams from Moscow, Klin, Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg took part in the competition.

As part of the cultural and artistic programme, forum participants and guests were able to visit such unique sites as the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces, the Memory Road multimedia historical and memorial complex, the Field of Victory open-air museum, and the exhibition of captured weapons and equipment captured during a special military operation in Ukraine.

Performances by bands and ensembles from the Ministry of Defence and creative groups from Moscow and the Moscow region were held on the Main Stage of Patriot Congress and Exhibition Centre.

The organizing committee of this year’s ARMY 2022 International Military and Technical Forum awarded the grand prize to the Almaz-Antey Aerospace Defence Concern.

ARMY International Military and Technical Forum has been held since 2015.
