Spectra Group (UK) Ltd, specialists in delivering mission-critical communications systems for defence and security users worldwide, has received the King’s Award for Enterprise 2026 in the International Trade category.

To receive the award is a tremendous achievement in its own right for any organisation, but for Spectra Group to have been awarded the UK’s most prestigious business honour by the Queen in 2019 for Innovation and again by the King in 2026 for International Trade is exceptional. The King’s Award for Enterprise is a globally recognised mark of excellence, celebrating the outstanding achievements of any organisation. For Spectra Group, whose systems are trusted by active defence customers worldwide, it is a validation of operational credibility as much as commercial success.

Over the three-year assessment period, Spectra Group’s communications systems were adopted by active military customers across Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa — including new deployments in active operational zones, the Netherlands, Belgium, Indonesia and Australia. That operational reach drove 173% growth in overseas revenues across the period, with exports accounting for more than half of total turnover by FY2024.

That operational reach does not happen by accident. Spectra Group was founded by Simon Davies, a veteran who remains personally involved in customer relationships, and whose ethos runs through the entire organisation. More than 60% of employees have been with the company for over ten years, 40% are veterans themselves and the majority of Spectra’s customers are active military. The result is an organisation that understands, at first hand, what it means to depend on communications equipment when it matters most, and builds accordingly. The company’s motto, “Trusted by the Best,” is not a marketing line. It is a description of who buys the kit and why they keep coming back.

Simon Davies, CEO at Spectra Group, said: “Receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise is an honour of the highest order, and to receive it for International Trade, following our Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2019, reflects what this team has built over 24 years. Our customers are active military, operating in environments where communications failure is not an option. Their trust in Spectra Group is the standard we hold ourselves to every day, and this award is the clearest possible confirmation that we are meeting it. I am also acutely aware that this recognition belongs to every member of the Spectra Group team. With the recent launch of GENSS, our latest communications system, we have every reason to believe the best is still ahead of us…”
