SWISS is expanding its Airbus A350-900 operations and will introduce the new aircraft on its Zurich-Mumbai route from 15 December 2026. This will bring the new “SWISS Senses” long-haul travel experience to flights to India for the first time.
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) will introduce its new Airbus A350 on flights between Zurich and Mumbai from 15 December 2026. Travelers to India will thus be able to enjoy the new “SWISS Senses” long-haul travel experience for the first time. The entirely redesigned cabin offers greater comfort and privacy, along with state-of-the-art entertainment systems featuring larger screens.
SWISS will operate daily Airbus A350 flights to Mumbai until 3 January 2027. From 4 January, the airline will use the A350 on six days a week while continuing to serve Mumbai daily. For now, SWISS plans to operate the Airbus A350 on this route only during the 2026/27 winter timetable period.
Until now, SWISS has primarily served Mumbai with Airbus A330 aircraft. The Airbus A350 will reduce the flight time from Zurich to Mumbai by around 25 minutes to approximately 8 hours and 10 minutes. Its lighter construction, more powerful engines and higher cruising altitude all contribute to the shorter flight time.
“SWISS Wanderlust” to remain in the skies longer
SWISS will keep the special “SWISS Wanderlust” livery on its first Airbus A350 longer than originally planned. The airline initially intended to retain the elaborate design until the first quarter of 2027 but has now decided to extend its use beyond that period.
SWISS has not yet determined how long the aircraft will continue flying in its special livery. The airline plans to restore the classic SWISS livery during an already scheduled repainting.
