Paris. 13 July 2023. It is 11 PM in France here and lets take a recap of the Day1 of PM Modi’s official visit as Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day Parade tomorrow.

  • PM arrives aboard the official Indian VVIP aircraft around noon Paris time
  • In a special gesture, Elisabeth Borne, Prime Minister of France, received him at the airport.
  • A ceremonial welcome and guard of honour were accorded to Prime Minister Modi.
  • Modi met Gerard Larcher, President of French Senate and highlighted the significance of our shared values of ‘democracy, freedom and equality’, forming the foundation ethos of India-France partnership.The discussions focused on wide range of areas including India’s G20 priorities, democratic values in technology usage and cooperation between the two upper houses. Regional and global issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
  • Prime Minister met his French counterpart Elisabeth Borne and the leaders discussed furthering cooperation in various areas such as economic and trade, energy, environment, education, mobility, railways, digital public infrastructure, museology and people to people ties. Both sides reiterated their desire to further deepen the multifaceted cooperation between India and France.
  • Modi addressed the Indian community at La Seine Musicale in Paris. He highlighted the multi-faceted India-France strategic partnership, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Prime minister also announced the opening of new consulate in Marseille, France. He lauded the contribution of the Indian community in France, who form a strong foundation of the India-France partnership.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, France’s highest award today by Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic of France. Prime minister thanked President Macron for this singular honour on behalf of the people of India. The award ceremony took place at the Elysee palace in Paris.
