Mumbai. 14 October 2022. L&T MBDA Missile Systems Ltd (LTMMSL) is a company set up with a vision – to be the “lead Indian Private Missile Developer & Manufacturer and Missile System Integrator” by delivering the best in class Indian-made missiles for the Indian Armed Forces through participation in ‘Buy (Indian – IDDM)’, ‘Buy (Indian)’, ‘Buy & Make (Indian)’ and ‘Make’ categories of defence procurement. The company has two exciting focuses during DEFEXPO 2022: showcasing the in-service contemporary missile technologies that are available for the Indian Armed Forces, and secondly contributing to Atmanirbhar Bharat with our Indian industrial footprint and partnerships.
LTMMSL has an Integration Facility at Coimbatore for missile systems and missile launchers. Today, LTMMSL is producing MICA Missile sections and Missile launchers and exporting them from Coimbatore and some of which are in turn supplied for the Indian Air Force’s Rafale and Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft. LTMMSL is already making key contributions for the MICA missile. We plan to offer MICA missiles to Indian armed forces. MICA is the only missile in the world featuring two interoperable seekers (active radar and imaging infrared) to cover the spectrum from close-in dogfight to long beyond visual range (BVR). Its ability to fly out to BVR in passive mode before the seeker locks on in the final stages of the end game has earned it the nickname “silent killer” as the target has little time to react or to deploy effective countermeasures.
LTMMSL is offering Sea Ceptor, the latest generation of naval air defence system, for the Indian Navy’s Vertical Launched Short-Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) requirement. Sea Ceptor is a highly advanced air-defence weapon system that is able to provide the highest level of protection from air and missile attack for Indian navy battleships.
LTMMSL has offered Exocet MM40 for the Indian Navy’s medium range anti-ship missile requirement. Exocet MM40 Block 3 weapon system is the latest generation ship-borne version of the combat proven Exocet missile family. It provides enhanced operational performance and technology upgrades, and has a Mission Planning software module that automatically computes engagement plans to support firing decisions. The flexibility of the weapon is further enhanced by the accuracy of the new navigation package, allowing optimised 3D approach trajectories and terminal attacks from different azimuths, at very low sea skimming altitude with simultaneous time on target. The terminal guidance relies on a sophisticated active seeker to discriminate and select targets at sea and on GPS accuracy for land targets.
LTMMSL is also offering an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) for Make in India projects. Combining the strength of our parent companies, L&T and MBDA, we are able to offer the very latest generation of
anti-tank missile technologies for the Indian Armed Forces, which makes our Make in India proposal for this new generation ATGM very compelling.
LTMMSL will present a comprehensive portfolio of many high performing missile technologies that are in service or on offer to the Indian Armed Forces during DEFEXPO 2022.
