Bangalore. 08 November 2023 . Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) announces the successful completion of a major terminal transformation project, which includes the repurposing of the former International area within Terminal 1 (T1) to create a dedicated and expansive space for Domestic operations.

In our ongoing commitment to improve the customer experience and ensure a smooth passenger journey, we have expanded our domestic facilities at the airport. We have introduced 9 new contact stands, supplementing the existing 8 stands, exclusively dedicated to domestic operations. Additionally, we have activated a new Pre-Embarkation Security Check (PESC) area equipped with Automated Tray Retrieval Systems (ATRS), facilitating the flow of passengers into the Security Hold Area (SHA) and onward to the new boarding gates.

Furthermore, we have increased the number of baggage claim belts to 10 for domestic arrival flights, with the addition of 3 new belts. These enhancements are aimed at providing a better overall experience for passengers arriving at our airport.

As part of our commitment to cater to the exclusive preferences of domestic travellers, we have also expanded the range of retail and dining options available for domestic passengers. Passengers can now enjoy access to the esteemed 080 Lounge and Spa facilities located within the expanded domestic area, further elevating their travel experience. Additionally, we have taken measures to assist passengers with special needs by making buggies easily accessible within the SHA. This service provides comfort and convenience, especially for elderly passengers and Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM), ensuring a smooth and hassle-free journey.
