Aviation India is delighted to welcome Jürgen Westermeier, President and MD of Airbus in India and South Asia, to the speaker line-up at Aviation India Summit 2026, being held in Delhi from 3-4 November.
India is fast becoming one of the most important markets globally for Airbus, with its footprint extending from commercial aircraft and helicopters to defence and space.
As Westermeier said recently: “India is no longer just a vital market for us; it is a fundamental pillar of our global strategy and innovation network.”
According to the European aerospace giant: “‘Make in India’ is at the heart of Airbus strategy in India with the company constantly increasing the country’s contribution to its global product portfolio. Airbus’ local footprint in sourcing, engineering, innovation, maintenance and training services is a testament to our commitment to developing the local ecosystem.”
The firm says that India is a base and a strategic resource hub for emerging technologies, world-class talent and research and development that powers the aerospace sector.
Airbus has a significant presence in India, with over 3,800 employees across its various sites. Supporting more than 15,000 jobs through its supply chain, Airbus contributes to India’s economic growth by sourcing over US$1.6 billion annually in components and services for global exports.
Westermeier has held the top job at Airbus India for just over a year and has spent six years at Airbus in total with five as its Chief Procurement Officer based in France before arriving in Delhi.
He joined Airbus in 2017 after spending 22 years at BMW Group in a variety of executive positions.
Westermeier is also the chair of FICCI’s Civil Aviation Sector and the President of Federation of European Business in India.

Aviation India Summit 2026 builds on the formula of the successful Times Aerospace Aviation Events held in Africa, which began in Dubai in 2015 and continued annually in Rwanda, Egypt, Nigeria, Ethiopia, South Africa and most recently in Kenya.
