Nagpur.  22 January 2018. Solar Industries India Ltd was handed over ToT for mass production of  solid propellant booster of Brahmos.

Economic Explosives Limited a wholly owned subsidiary of Solar Industries India Limited (Solar Group), was awarded this during the ‘Defence Industry Development’ meet organised by Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence (MOD) at Chennai recently.

This is the latest step towards self-sufficiency in production of propulsion system for Brahmos missile being imported from Russia. Solar Group is accessing technology transfer from DRDO for Brahmos. Solar Group has already commenced work on missile integration facility which will be completed soon and with this technology transfer we are looking forward to trial production of Brahmos by the end of this year.

The BrahMos, a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarine, ships, aircraft, or land, is the fastest supersonic cruise missile in the world will now be manufactured in India. Currently, India imports about 35 boosters annually and the demand for the booster is going to be high, as Indian Air-force will induct more missiles on its fighter jets in the near future. Since the booster will be indigenously made, the maintenance will be timely as well as cost effective.
