Moscow. 20 August 2022. Colonel General Alexander Fomin, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, held talks with Lieutenant General Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussain, First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. In particular, issues of strengthening of military contacts between the military departments were discussed.

Colonel General Alexander Fomin noted that Russia and Pakistan are increasing contacts in such areas as joint exercises of land forces, naval forces and strengthening of staff ties. This year, two countries’ defence ministries have a busy programme of joint activities.

“The main thing is the 4th meeting of the Russian-Pakistani Consultative Committee on Defence and Security, which we propose to hold in Moscow on October, as well as Friendship 2022 bilateral exercise,” Alexander Fomin said.

In turn, the Pakistani Deputy Defence Minister noted that the current relations between Russia and Pakistan are a key priority for the country. “Our relationship with Russia contributes not only to our national interests, but also to regional security,” he said.
