MKU Limited, a global defence technology company specialising in advanced ballistic protection and optronics systems for soldiers and platforms, announces a landmark series of international contracts that mark a defining chapter in the company’s global journey: supplying its cutting-edge ballistic protection solutions to Spanish Police Forces, UK Customs, and Latvia’s Emergency Medical Services — three distinct arms of the modern security ecosystem, united by a singular demand for technology that performs without compromise.

Empowering Spain’s Frontline Defenders Through Advanced Ballistic Protection

In a significant step forward for India’s growing defence export footprint, MKU Limited has been awarded a contract by the Ministry of the Interior, Government of Spain, for the supply of advanced ballistic protection systems to Spanish police forces. Under the contract, MKU will supply the Kavro TAC-P IF+ Plate Carrier and the Kavro ACH 1026 B Ballistic Helmet — engineered to deliver reliable protection against high-velocity ballistic and fragmentation threats, while ensuring the tactical mobility, comfort, and operational endurance that modern policing demands.

The contract reinforces MKU’s long-standing presence in Spain — a relationship rooted in over two decades of defence collaboration — and reflects the growing institutional confidence in Indian-developed protection solutions across European law enforcement. It also carries broader strategic relevance, arriving at a time when the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement, concluded in January 2026, is opening new pathways for defence and security cooperation between India and Europe.

Advancing UK Border Protection Through Next-Generation Ballistic Helmets

The nature of modern security threats demands protection that goes beyond the battlefield. At borders, ports, and checkpoints, customs personnel operate in environments of growing complexity — and it is here that MKU has secured a contract to supply its Kavro HCH 133 B ballistic helmet to UK Customs, bringing advanced NIJ Level III A-certified protection to one of Britain’s most critical frontline services.

With the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement signed in July 2025 — targeting a doubling of bilateral trade from USD 56 billion by 2030 — partnerships such as this affirm that defence and security cooperation sits at the heart of the two nations’ shared ambitions.

Safeguarding Latvia’s Emergency Medical Personnel with Mission-Ready Protection

As threats to civilian and emergency infrastructure continue to evolve, MKU has secured a contract to supply its Kavro HCH 173 B Ballistic Helmet to Latvia’s Emergency Medical Services, for deployment across hospitals and ambulance services. The contract reflects a broader shift in how frontline protection is understood — Latvia’s emergency medical personnel now operate in environments demanding the same standard of ballistic protection as security and defence forces, with the Kavro HCH 173 B meeting NIJ Level IIIA certification and fragmentation resistance exceeding 700 m/s per STANAG.

Engineered from lightweight composite materials, the helmet’s high-cut design ensures compatibility with communication equipment and field vision, while its TwistFit retention mechanism and shock absorption system deliver stability and comfort across extended operational deployments. The contract adds to MKU’s expanding footprint across European security institutions and underscores the increasing global recognition of Indian-manufactured protection solutions.

Made in Europe: MKU’s Centre of Excellence in Germany

MKU GmbH, our Centre of Excellence located in Germany, serves as a hub for advanced protection technologies, product development, manufacturing and testing. The facility includes advanced ballistic testing infrastructure capable of evaluating helmets, body armour, ballistic shields, and armour plates against internationally recognised standards.

Today, a significant portion of MKU’s soldier protection portfolio serving European customers, including the solution provided to the UK Customs, Spain Police and Latvian Medical Services, is manufactured through our German operations, combining global experience with European engineering and quality assurance processes.

Across Borders, Across Missions: Delivering Trusted Protection to the World’s Frontline Guardians

Across Spain, the United Kingdom, and Latvia — three nations, three distinct operational environments — MKU’s commitment to delivering uncompromising protection is finding expression at the highest levels of institutional trust.

As this chapter unfolds, MKU will bring its full portfolio to Eurosatory 2026, the world’s premier land and air-land defence exhibition, held June 15–19 at Paris-Nord Villepinte, where over 100,000 defence and security professionals converge to define the direction of global security technology.

Commenting on these developments, Karan Gupta, VP – International Sales, MKU, said: “Each of these contracts speaks to something larger than an individual win. Whether it is a police officer in Spain, a customs official at a British border, or a paramedic responding to a crisis in Latvia — every one of them deserves protection they can trust without question. That is the standard MKU holds itself to, and the trust these institutions have placed in us is a reflection of what Indian defence manufacturing is capable of delivering to the world.”
