May 01, 2026 Nagpur: On his review-cum-inspection visit to Nagpur on 01 May 26, Maj Gen Vivek Tyagi, Additional Director General, NCC Maharashtra Directorate, paid a courtesy call on Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways. The interaction aligns with NCC’s strategic initiatives to broaden its footprint in the remote regions of Vidarbha, encompassing Gadchiroli and Chandrapur.

Maj Gen Tyagi extended felicitations on Maharashtra Day to the Hon’ble Minister and highlighted the exemplary participation of NCC cadets in community development and national campaigns, including road safety awareness, anti-drug drives, and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, in consonance with the vision of Viksit Bharat. He also highlighted recent advancements in youth skilling and technology integration, while seeking the Hon’ble Minister’s assistance for dedicated infrastructure at Nagpur, Mumbai, and Kolhapur, including the establishment of a State Academy at Nagpur. Emphasis was placed on the persistent infrastructural challenges in progressing the initiatives in drone and cyber training for Vidarbha NCC cadets at Nagpur. The ADG also requested allocation of suitable training assets at Futala Lake for the NCC Navy Unit. Nagpur’s NCC Group is distinctive featuring all three wings and specialized Riding Training through the RVC Unit, which requires urgent upgrades to sustain cadets’ sports and adventure exposure.

During the succinct interaction, the Hon’ble Minister commended NCC’s pivotal role in youth empowerment and nation-building. He assured comprehensive support through his office for augmenting training infrastructure, facilitating expansion, promoting women empowerment, fostering corporate partnerships, and creating enhanced opportunities. He further advised that precise requirements be formally conveyed to his office for necessary action.

The meeting was attended by Group Captain Kushal Vyas, NCC Group Commander,  and Lt Col Ameay Kanade, Trg Officer, NCC Group Nagpur. Earlier, whilst reviewing training activities, the ADG Maharashtra Directorate visited the Officers Training Academy (OTA) NCC at Kamptee, wherein detailed insight into Training Programme of NCC Trainers reflected the exemplary transformational endeavours steered through visionary restructuring by Headquarters Directorate General NCC.
