New Delhi. 31 October 2019. The Deep Depression over Maldives -Comorin areas has intensified into Cyclonic Storm Maha. Naval Officer-in-Charge (NOIC) Lakshadweep & Minicoy (L&M) and INS Dweeprakshak at Kavaratti are taking all precautions in co-ordination with Union Territory Lakshadweep (UTL) Administration to ensure safety of men and material.
The Cabinet Secretary (CS) Rajiv Gauba reviewed the preparedness of UTL administration on 30 Oct 19 through video conference. The CS was informed by representative of Indian Navy (IN) about preparedness of IN at Lakshadweep and Southern Naval Command’s readiness to depute warships with Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) bricks/relief material embarked. Naval teams at Kavaratti, Androth and Minicoy have been directed to provide all possible assistance required to UTL administration.
