BSF Jammu frontier celebrated its 43 Raising Day at BSF Paloura camp, Jammu. The Jammu frontier was raised on 01 January 1981 after bifurcating erstwhile North Western Frontier. On the occasion Sh D K Boora, IG BSF Jammu congratulated all officers and Jawans of this frontier.

Sh D K Boora, IG said that Frontier Hq BSF Jammu is manning about 192 km of International Border with Pakistan and also deployed on Line of Control along with Indian Army in Naushera/ Rajouri and Poonch sector. BSF in Jammu region assured safety and security and all possible assistance to border population. Hence, Jammu border remained peaceful as a consequence of strong dominance and surveillance of BSF. BSF Jammu has performed exceptionally with strict vigil and made remarkable achievements in the Year 2022. Despite deployment in hostile area as well as sensitive and hyper sensitive scenarios, BSF has always stood up to the challenges with aplomb.

As a result of robust domination and surveillance on International Border, there has been continued peace on the Jammu IB. BSF Jammu has relentlessly carried out anti-tunnel drives along IB and due to its efforts it was able to detect one tunnel on International Border in the month of May 2022 and made a huge dent to the infiltration attempts by ANEs from Pakistan.

In different successful operations on international Border, the ever vigilant troops of BSF were successful in apprehension of three Pakistani intruders and neutralised six Pakistani smugglers who tried to violate the IB with the intention to smuggle the consignment of narcotics and weapons from across the Border into Indian Territory.

Speaking on the occasion Sh D K Boora, IG FTR said that the last year has been ‘Achievement Oriented. The aim of ANEs to spread disharmony by carrying out nefarious activities stands thwarted. He also added that BSF is fully prepared and has augmented its resources to rise up to the challenges in 2023.

Apart from this, BSF troops seized about 49.400 Kgs of narcotics on international border in the current year.
It is worth mentioning here that this frontier has also added another feather in the cap by winning “Maharana Pratap Trophy for best Border Management system for the year 2022 which was presented by Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Nityananda Rai and 48 Bn BSF of this frontier has also won the DG’s Banner for best Operational Battalion for the year 2022.

Apart from performing exceptionally well on the operational front, BSF Jammu Frontier has also been in the forefront in assisting border population through various initiatives.

BSF Jammu has been in the forefront in assisting border population in Jammu area continuously. The relationship with villagers has been very cordial and friendly and to nourish the bondage between BSF & Border population BSF organized three ‘Bharat Darshan Tours’ to inculcate the sense of Patriotism among the students of border area and to expose them to the peculiarities of other parts of the country.

During the year, several Civic Action programme catering to the needs of border population were conducted by the BSF Battalions where Medical equipment’s, Sports items, Water cooler etc. were provided to them. The border population was also made aware of the Drone ops carried out by Pak based ANE’s and many Drone awareness programme were organized by BSF with border population.

BSF Jammu has always been at forefront to encourage Sports/Training events which enhance the professionalism of our border men. Frontier Hq Jammu has performed creditably and attained the following positions in Inter Ftr Competitions as given below:-

Apart from this a Cycle Rally was also organized from BOP Octroi, Suchetgarh, Jammu to Bhuj, Gujarat in which 19 BSF cyclists cover about 2,112 kms in 32 days along Indo-Pak border.
The BWWA activities for the welfare of wives of BSF jawans and other ranks were also carried out throughout the year under the stewardship of Smt Sunita Boora, President BWWA Jammu by delivering lectures on series on Socio economic issues & health related topics on female and children related problems by eminent experts in their respective fields. Many vocational training programme were also run for the welfare of Jawans wives to enable them to earn an alternative livelihood like cake making, candle making and chocolate making etc.

It is heartening to note that during the year 2022 many personnel of jammu frontier were awarded medals like Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG)-01,Police Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak – 955, Utkrisht Seva Padak- 234 Ati Utkrisht Seva Padak-144 Director General commendation Role-386, Addl Director General commendation Role-12.

True to its tradition of “Jeevan Paryant Kartavya” the BSF Jammu has been guarding the challenging International border of Jammu with utmost vigil and definite resolve while inculcating a sense of security among border population.

PRO BSF Jammu
