• Aerospace Elevating Safety Measures with Cutting-Edge Missile Protection Systems

Tel-a-Viv, Israel. 27 March 2024 . Bird AeroSystems announced the successful installation of its advanced SPREOS DIRCM, and Aeroshield missile protection systems on multiple Airbus A319 aircraft for a Undisclosed European customer. This milestone underscores Bird’s unwavering commitment to advancing Directed Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM) technology, which is already installed in a broad customer base around the world.

At the core of this project is the SPREOS (Self Protection Radar Electro-Optic System), a patented DIRCM system for missile approach verification, tracking, and laser jamming. SPREOS features semi-active dual-band radar fused with IR tracker and IR countermeasure capabilities. It ensures precise protection against MANPADS threats and seamlessly integrates with diverse missile warning systems. The installation also included Bird’s versatile AMPS solution, designed for both military and civilian markets, providing complete protection against ground-to-air threats, including MANPADS attacks, for helicopters and VVIP aircraft for heads of states. Additionally, the installation of the AeroShield pod solution on the Airbus A319 Aircraft, was expanded to be installed also for Dassault Falcon 7X aircraft.

Ronen Factor, Co-CEO, and Founder at Bird AeroSystems, asserts, “The successful installation of our systems on the Undisclosed European customer’s Airbus A319 marks a significant milestone for Bird AeroSystems as the supplier of advanced DIRCM technology and comprehensive airborne self-protection systems.
