Mumbai | September 10, 2026 – Andhra Pradesh has taken another significant step towards strengthening its position as a global aerospace and advanced manufacturing destination with Sigma Advanced Systems commencing production at its dedicated aerospace manufacturing facility at Sri City.

The UK-based aerospace manufacturing company has successfully transitioned its Sri City facility from ground-breaking to active production in a record eight months, with the first batch of precision-machined aerospace components already manufactured and shipped to Sigma’s UK operations for final verification ahead of delivery to the customer.

The development marks an important milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to attract high-value manufacturing investments and establish a globally competitive aerospace ecosystem in the State.

The 75,000 sq ft facility, developed as part of a larger 500,000 sq ft campus, currently has a production capacity of 100,000 annual machining hours. The facility has been designed to scale up to nearly 300,000 annual machining hours, significantly expanding Andhra Pradesh’s advanced aerospace manufacturing capabilities.

The Sri City facility is being developed to replicate Sigma UK’s established aerospace manufacturing capabilities in India, progressively bringing a larger share of the aerospace manufacturing value chain to the State. Once the planned expansion is completed, approximately 70 per cent of the manufacturing process is expected to be undertaken in India.

The Sri City operation has also completed the initial stages of the source-change approval process with Rolls-Royce Aerospace, underscoring the facility’s ability to meet the stringent quality and manufacturing standards required by leading global aerospace programmes.

The remaining portion of the Sri City campus is expected to become operational over the next 12 months, further strengthening the facility’s manufacturing and aerospace-critical capabilities. The campus has been designed to provide the scale and capabilities required to support future acquisitions and long-term expansion.

Commenting on the development, Sunil Kalidindi, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Sigma Advanced Systems, said that Sri City represents an important milestone in the company’s evolution as a global aerospace manufacturing partner.

He said the company has moved from a greenfield facility to production in just eight months and has begun manufacturing aerospace components in India to the standards required by global aerospace programmes.

“Our objective is not simply to add machining capacity in India, but to replicate the manufacturing capabilities we have in the UK and progressively bring a larger part of the aerospace manufacturing value chain into India,” CEO Sunil Kalidindi said.

The company has selected Sri City for its ability to support rapid capability development and long-term manufacturing scale, along with its connectivity to major international logistics gateways. Its access to four major ports provides efficient connectivity for export-oriented manufacturing operations.

As part of its long-term plans, Sigma Advanced Systems will also develop specialised aerospace manufacturing skills through on-campus training and capability development, creating opportunities to strengthen the State’s skilled talent pool in advanced manufacturing.

The commencement of production by Sigma Advanced Systems further reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s growing appeal for high-technology, export-oriented and aerospace manufacturing investments. The development is expected to strengthen the State’s integration with global aerospace supply chains while supporting the emergence of a specialised manufacturing and skills ecosystem around Sri City.
