Seattle. 21 July 2019. Korean Air has signed a pact with Boeing worth $6.3 billion to buy 20 787 Dreamliners, consisting of 10 each of 787-10 and 787-9 models. An additional agreement with Air Lease Corporation has also been finalised to rent 10 787-10s.
Walter Cho, Chief of Korean Air commented, “As we continue to innovate our product offering, the 787 Dreamliner family will become the backbone of our mid-and long-haul fleet for many years to come.”
787-10 due to its latest technological advancements utilises 25% less fuel and 15% more space for travellers and goods than 787-9s that would be crucial for the company’s long-term business objectives according to Korean Air Chief Walter Cho.

Boeing senior vice president of commercial sales and marketing, Ihssane Mounir said, “as Korean Air celebrates a half-century of excellence in flight, they have earned the respect and admiration of the global aviation community. With the 747-8, 777 and now the 787 Dreamliner family, Korean Air operates one of the most efficient and comprehensive widebody fleets in the world.”
Apart from this, Boeing also opens its different worldwide services to Korean Air to support its jet fleet plus health management services, which helps to reduce delays for Boeing 787 aircraft by employing predictive analytics with real-time flight data.
Korean Air also hires Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro electronic flight bag services, which provide solutions to smooth access to digital navigation data, charts, manuals, and weather information for pilots, besides it, the airline also operates digital flight planning and runway performance analysis formulas to cut costs and further increase service efficiency of airline’s jet fleet.
Korean Air supplies the typical raked wings-tips for the 747-8 and 787 along with contribution to the Advanced Technology (AT) Winglet on the 737 MAX.
