Hindon, Ghaziabad. 08 October 2026. Precision on the parade ground, a new rhythm from the drums and a glimpse of aviation history in the skies—the Indian Air Force’s 94th anniversary celebrations at Air Force Station Hindon brought together military discipline, heritage and recognition of service. This was a parade with a difference, with women air warriors delivering a striking drill display and the Air Force Drum Band making its first appearance at the anniversary parade.
Adding a distinctive dimension was the Air Force Drum Band, whose debut at the anniversary parade brought a fresh musical character to the occasion. The coordinated percussion complemented the drill and marching, linking rhythm with the same timing and collective discipline visible across the parade ground.
Above Hindon, the vintage Tiger Moth flight offered a different kind of spectacle. Its presence connected the anniversary celebrations with an earlier era of aviation, providing a reminder that the IAF’s modern identity rests on generations of flying experience, technical dedication and service. The heritage aircraft’s appearance brought history into the celebration as a living, airborne tribute.
The presentation of unit citations shifted the focus from display to achievement. Recognising collective service, the citations honoured the teamwork through which a military unit fulfils its responsibilities. They also highlighted an essential truth of air power: every successful mission depends on coordinated effort across aircrew, technical personnel and ground support teams.
The awards ceremony brought individual service and distinction into that wider story. Alongside the recognition of units, it placed the air warriors themselves at the heart of the anniversary—acknowledging the commitment and professionalism that sustain the institution beyond the ceremonial occasion.
Together, these elements gave Hindon’s celebrations a distinctive character. The women’s drill demonstrated exacting standards; the Drum Band introduced a new ceremonial expression; the Tiger Moth preserved a connection with aviation heritage; and the citations and awards recognised the people whose work gives the force its strength.
Military precision met a powerful display of women’s participation at Hindon as Air Chief Marshal A. P. Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, took the salute at the Indian Air Force’s 94th anniversary parade. Celebrating the force’s journey since 8 October 1932, the ceremony placed its people, discipline and commitment to national defence in the spotlight.
Team Shakti brought that discipline sharply into focus. The 28-member contingent of women air warriors, led by a woman commander, performed a rifle drill demanding exact timing, steady control and complete coordination. Crisp movements and assured weapon handling made their display a standout feature of the celebrations. Every sequence reflected rigorous preparation and collective effort—a striking expression of the professionalism women bring to the IAF.
At 94, the Indian Air Force celebrated both its legacy and the personnel carrying it forward. Hindon’s message was expressed through measured steps, disciplined hands, stirring drums and historic wings: the pride of the IAF lies as much in its people as in its aircraft. Their service continues to give meaning to its enduring call—“Touch the Sky with Glory.”
