aduShillong. 01 December 2016 . Lieutenant General Depinder Singh Ahuja has taken over as the General Officer Commanding 101 Area with effect from 26 November 2016.

Commissioned into the Bengal Sappers in Dec 1981, the general officer has had an illustrious and a chequered career, spanning 35 years. As a young officer, he has commanded the Bengal Sappers contingent in the republic day parade in 1984. He has been a military observer at Angola as part of the United Nations Mission. He has tenanted important staff appointments at the Army Headquarters, various Command and Corps Headquarters. He has also been an instructor at the prestigious Defence Services Staff College in Wellington.

The General Officer has attended and performed exceedingly well in various courses of instruction. He has also attended the Staff College, Wellington, Higher Defence Management Course at Hyderabad and National Defence College at New Delhi.

He has adequate experience in Eastern Theatre as Chief Engineer Eastern Command, as he was involved in the planning and execution of major infrastructure projects for the Army, Navy and Air Force.

He is also an ardent Golfer and is fond of music.
