New York. 21 January 2019. David C. Johnson (VADM USN – ret.) has been appointed as Senior Vice President, Strategy for L3 Technologies’ Communications & Networked Systems business segment. In this position, he will be responsible for the segment’s overall business strategy, including its business development, systems engineering, and key programs and initiatives.

Johnson will report to Sean J. Stackley, L3’s Corporate Senior Vice President and President of the Communications & Networked Systems segment.

“Dave is a world-class systems engineer, program manager, technical leader, problem solver and expert on our defense customers,” said  Stackley. “We’re excited by the tremendous talent and experience he brings to bear in helping solve our defense customers’ toughest challenges.”

 Johnson joins L3 following a distinguished 36-year career in the U.S. Navy, where he most recently served as the Principal Military Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition. Prior assignments included PEO Submarines; Deputy Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command for Undersea Technology; Commander, Naval Undersea Warfare Center; major program manager for Virginia-class submarines; and various assignments in ship design, construction, maintenance, modernization and technology development.

Johnson graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. He also holds a Naval Engineering degree and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

 He has received various personal and campaign awards, including the Defense Service Medal, Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars.
