Indian Air Force (IAF) is conducting the Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon 2026 (SIM-26) on 04 October 2026. Headquarters Maintenance Command has been entrusted with the responsibility to organise SIM-26 at Mumbai. The event is simultaneously being organised at seven cities across India to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, PVC, the only recipient of the Param Vir Chakra from the Indian Air Force. By honouring the enduring legacy of this legend, the event aims at promoting the values and ethos of the Defence forces. The marathon is also aligned with the Fit India Movement launched by the Government of India aimed at promoting the importance of fitness.

The significance of the marathon has acquired deeper resonance in the present times. Operation Sindoor demonstrated to the nation the courage, professionalism, resolve and sacrifice of our Defence Forces in safeguarding the sovereignty and security of the country. It also demonstrated the strength of national unity and the unwavering resolve of our citizens to stand together against the adversary. The marathon seeks to translate this indomitable spirit of national resolve into a positive movement of fitness, discipline, resilience and determination amongst our youth. The event is envisaged as a significant outreach initiative of the IAF towards encouraging public participation for a noble cause and motivating the youth to join the Defence Forces.

The Indian Air Force invites citizens from all walks of life to come together and be part of this unique celebration. For registration and more details please log on to www.sekhoniafmarathon.in
