Under the guidance of Group Captain Khushal Vyas, Group Commander, Nagpur Group, No. 2 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Nagpur successfully organised and hosted the prestigious Inter-Group Competition (IGC) 2026 at Saoner from 4 to 13 August 2026.

The ten-day intensive competition brought together the finest Air Wing cadets from across Maharashtra, with participation from three premier units – No. 1 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Mumbai, No. 2 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Nagpur, and No. 3 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Pune. The cadets competed across a demanding range of events, including Drill, Health and Hygiene, Aeromodelling, .22 Rifle Shooting, Skeet Shooting and Tent Pitching, showcasing exceptional discipline, precision, technical proficiency and competitive spirit.

No. 2 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Nagpur emerged as the Overall Champion, securing the IGC title for the second consecutive year. The Nagpur Group also won Gold in Drill, reaffirming its excellence in discipline, coordination and military bearing.

Nagpur Group delivered an outstanding performance across individual events. Cdt/Sgt KHUSHBU SHARNAGAT secured Gold in Best Pilot (SW), while Cdt SIDDHI KARDBHAJNE and Cdt/Sgt SHRESHTHRAJ PRASAD secured Gold in Health and Hygiene. Cdt MRUNALI GHAGRE won Silver in .22 Rifle Shooting (SW).

In Aeromodelling, Cdt TEJAS GANAR and Cdt/Sgt RIYA TAMGADE secured Gold in Static, while LFC TEJAS CHAHANDE and Cdt HARSH JORA won Silver in Control Line. Cdt/Cpl PRIYANSHU MEHTA and Cdt/Cpl ATHARVA CHAUHAN secured Gold in Remote Control.

The Nagpur Group further strengthened its overall performance with Silver in Tent Pitching and Bronze in Skeet Shooting.

No. 3 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Pune secured the Overall Runner-Up Trophy, with commendable performances in Skeet Shooting, .22 Rifle Shooting (SD) and Aeromodelling (Control Line).

No. 1 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Mumbai also put up a strong performance, securing the Tent Pitching title, while Cdt MEGHARAJ CHAUDHARI earned the distinction of Best Pilot (SD).

The successful culmination of IGC 2026 marks another significant achievement for the Air Wing units of the Maharashtra Directorate and reflects the high standards of discipline, operational readiness, technical proficiency and teamwork instilled in the cadets through rigorous training.

The victory of No. 2 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Nagpur for the second year in succession is a testament to the unit’s sustained excellence and the dedication of its cadets and training staff. The competition also served as an important stepping stone towards the next phase of selection.

Following IGC 2026, the selected cadets will undergo Pre-Vayu Sainik Camp (PVSC) 1 and PVSC 2. Cadets who successfully clear these stages will proceed to represent the Maharashtra Directorate at the prestigious All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC).

The exceptional performances witnessed during IGC 2026 have set a high benchmark for excellence, with the selected cadets now carrying forward the spirit of discipline, determination and service as they advance towards the next stages of the Vayu Sainik Camp selection process
