New Delhi. 14 June 2019. S S Deswal Director General ITBP went to the Lipulekh Pass to see the arrangements and the condition of of the foot track leading to the traditional route of the Kailash mansarovar yatra through Lipulekh Pass and appealed the citizens to keep the Himalayas clean and contribute to make its ecosystem balanced. The visit was first of its kind as the Director General himself leading the team of officials traversed to the snow bound lipulekh pass on foot with the team of officers and reached at the Lipulekh pass which is located at a height of 17060 feet. This is for the first time that any serving Director General reached the pass on foot. Sh Deswal and the team cleaned the area by collecting garbage and took it to the the base for its disposal. The DG said that the Himalayas are beautiful heritage of mankind and all people coming to it should try to keep it pristine. Pilgrims, tourists, mountaineers and other people coming to the mountains should always try to take the garbage back and to dump it at

designated places from where it can be further disposed off. He said that the ITBP will be disposing the garbage collected by the people from this mountain foot route.
Lipulekh is a traditional pass between India and China where weather and climatic conditions are difficult. The ITBP provides security, medical aid and communication for the the pilgrims batches since yatra begun in the year 1981. The first batch of this year comprising of 58 pilgrims is expected to reach to the area next week for their voyage to the Kailash mansarovar through lipulekh pass.
