Africa's first A320neo

Hamburg, Germany. 03 August 2019.  Africa’s first A320neo has now been delivered to Air Seychelles on lease by CDB Aviation, CDB Aviation is a wholly owned Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co., Limited (“CDB Leasing”), after this the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles became the first african airline to employ the A320neo. Presently total 243 Airbus aircraft are in service with African airlines, out of 243 jets, 145 are A320 Family.

Air Seychelles CEO, Remco Althuis said, “We are indeed very proud to be the first airline in the Indian Ocean and Africa to take delivery of the first Airbus new A320neo aircraft. This fantastic achievement is not only an important milestone in the history of Air Seychelles, but it is also a great accomplishment for the hardworking team at Air Seychelles who has been heavily involved in this project throughout. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank CDB Aviation for their continued support in ensuring that all the work revolving around the A320neo aircraft proceeds as planned, as well as Airbus for the successful delivery of the aircraft.”

The Airbus A320neo is a single-aisle aircraft powered by the new-generation LEAP-1A engine, which is supplied by CFM International, A320neo also has Sharklets (large and fuel-efficient wing-tip devices).
