- Designed to enhance combat readiness for: Security of naval shore establishments, Low Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO), Ship boarding and Fleet Protection Measures (FPM) operational rehearsals.
- Offers a cost-effective, high-tech alternative to conventional outdoor firing ranges while maintaining realistic live-fire capability.
Mumbai, India | 13 August, 2026: Zen Technologies, India’s leading defence technology company, today announced the successful delivery and installation of India’s first Containerised Small Arms Firing Range (CSAFR) for the Indian Navy. Zen Technologies delivered the system in a significantly compressed timeframe, ahead of the planned delivery schedule.
Conceptualised by the Indian Navy and developed by Zen Technologies, the Containerised Small Arms Firing Range (CSAFR) represents a significant advancement in live-fire combat training by bringing realistic, all-weather small arms training directly to operational locations. Designed to overcome the limitations of conventional outdoor firing ranges, including land constraints, long travel distances, weather dependency, limited range availability due to urbanisation, and high logistical costs, the CSAFR enables troops to train where they operate.
Tailored for the Indian Navy’s operational requirements, the system enhances combat shooting for the security of shore establishments and Low Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO), while enabling customised maritime scenarios for ship boarding and Fleet Protection Measures (FPM) teams to conduct realistic mission rehearsals.
Key advantages of the CSAFR include:
- Zero Danger Area (ZDA) design and low noise signature enable safe live firing even in dense urban environments. Supports 24×7, all-weather live-fire training.
- Designed to enhance combat readiness for: Security of naval shore establishments, Low Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO), Ship boarding and Fleet Protection Measures (FPM) operational rehearsals.
- Enables custom maritime combat scenarios, replicating realistic operational environments. Improves engagement accuracy against fast manoeuvring targets, including high-speed boats.
- Supports night and low-visibility live-fire training for realistic mission preparation.
- Allows multiple soldiers to engage moving targets simultaneously while generating individual performance scores and analytics.
- Delivers a significant improvement in training efficiency: 100 soldiers can complete the Annual Qualification Course in one day, compared with five days on a conventional outdoor range.
- Offers a cost-effective, high-tech alternative to conventional outdoor firing ranges while maintaining realistic live-fire capability.
Commenting on the milestone, Ashok Atluri, Chairman & Managing Director, Zen Technologies, said, “The Indian Navy’s vision for a safe, realistic and always-available live-fire training capability has resulted in a truly transformative solution. We are proud to partner with the Indian Navy in delivering India’s first Containerised Small Arms Firing Range, bringing world-class live-fire training directly to the point of need. This system not only enhances operational readiness but also demonstrates how advanced training technologies can overcome the traditional limitations of land, logistics and infrastructure. We believe the CSAFR has the potential to redefine small arms training across the Indian Armed Forces and international defence forces alike.”
With the successful deployment of the CSAFR, Zen Technologies continues to strengthen its leadership in defence training and simulation by delivering innovative solutions that enhance combat readiness while improving efficiency, safety and cost-effectiveness.
