New Delhi. 09 September 2023. The countdown and the wait were both over . G20 took off with elan at the Bharat Mandapam with every country which mattered, every leader who makes a difference and India making the perfect host. It was as if New Delhi was the capital of the world. Prime Minister receiving one after the other the a member from the list of  global who is who, standing infront of the Konark Wheel at the in the corridor of the venue. A customary photograph and the moment captured for posterity.This is Day1 of G20 and India is the cynosure of world’s eyes. Delhi was host to Joe Biden, Rishi Sunak, Emmanuel Macron, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Anthony Albanese, Fumio Kishida and the list is endless , who got a taste of Indian hospitality and rich cultural heritage.

Icing on the cake was the adoption of the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration of the summit which was in a – will they will they not – situation, looking back at G20 in Bali when no consensus was reached. “History has been created with the adoption of the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration. United in consensus and spirit, we pledge to work collaboratively for a better, more prosperous, and harmonious future. My gratitude to all fellow G20 members for their support and cooperation,” said the Prime Minister.

In an attempt to advance infrastructure growth and enhance connectivity, a Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment & India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor was announced to combat problems arising post Russia-Ukraine war with a futuristic eye. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President of USA, Joe Biden co-chaired the meeting held with leaders of the European Union, France, Germany, Italy, Mauritius, UAE , Saudi Arabia and World Bank.

The launch of the Global Biofuels Alliance is a step ahead towards sustainability and clean energy.  The alliance includes Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, India, Italy, Mauritius, South Africa, the UAE and the US, while Canada and Singapore are observer countries. The announcement of the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was done on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.GBA is an India-led Initiative to develop an alliance of Governments, International organizations and Industry to facilitate adoption of biofuels. Bringing together the biggest consumers and producers of biofuels to drive biofuels development and deployment, the initiative aims to position biofuels as a key to energy transition and contribute to jobs and economic growth. It will support worldwide development and deployment of sustainable biofuels by offering capacity-building exercises across the value chain, technical support for national programs and promoting policy lessons-sharing. It will facilitate mobilizing a virtual marketplace to assist industries, countries, ecosystem players and key stakeholders in mapping demand and supply, as well as connecting technology providers to end users. It will also facilitate development, adoption and implementation of internationally recognized standards, codes, sustainability principles and regulations to incentivize biofuels adoption and trade.

The Leaders of India, Brazil, South Africa, and the United States, met on the margins of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi to reaffirm their shared commitment to the G20 as the premier forum for international economic cooperation to deliver solutions.As the G20’s current and next three Presidencies, they will build on the historic progress of India’s G20 Presidency to address global challenges. In this spirit, together with the World Bank President, they welcomed the G20’s commitment to build better, bigger, and more effective multilateral development banks.

President of India hosted the G20 official dinner at Bharat Mandapam for the Heads of delegations of G20 nations, Guest countries and International Organisations. President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the guests at the dinner. “Experiencing our time-honoured tradition of Atithi Devo Bhava, I am sure that our distinguished guests are enjoying the best of Indian culture, cuisine and hospitality during their stay with us, as we work together for a better future,” stated the President.
