• A milestone for transparency, safety and assurance in Ship-to-Ship Operations

DYNAMARINe is pleased to announce an important milestone for transparency, safety, and assurance in Ship-to-Ship transfer operations.

Following the approval of DYNAMARINe as a new data provider to EQUASIS in December 2023, the EQUASIS team announced, in June 2026, the completion of the platform developments required to integrate DYNAMARINe’s data into the Equasis system.

The new information is now available for consultation on the Ship Info page, under the “STS Operations” section, for vessels that have subscribed to DYNAMARINe’s STS services programme within the last 36 months.

The information provided includes, among other elements, the vessel’s subscription status to the STS services programme, onboard STS equipment, and records of STS operations conducted during the previous rolling 36-month period.

Recognition of Equasis’ role in maritime transparency

DYNAMARINe wishes to acknowledge the important role of EQUASIS in promoting transparency, quality, and safety across the international shipping industry.

Since its establishment, EQUASIS has served as a trusted platform through which maritime stakeholders can access reliable safety-related information and make more informed decisions. Its continued development reflects a clear vision: to support responsible shipping, strengthen confidence among industry participants, and encourage higher standards through the provision of transparent and accessible data.

The inclusion of STS-related information within EQUASIS is therefore not only an important milestone for DYNAMARINe, but also a meaningful advancement in the wider effort to improve visibility, accountability, and risk awareness in maritime operations.

A step forward for structured STS risk management

This achievement represents an important step forward for the maritime industry and for the development of structured STS risk management.

DYNAMARINe-registered vessels participate in an assurance programme designed to support transparent clearance, systematic risk assessment, and continuous improvement in operational preparedness. Their visibility on EQUASIS enhances stakeholders’ ability to access reliable STS-related information during the vessel assessment process.

For DYNAMARINe, safety in STS operations remains the highest priority. Vessels participating in the DYNAMARINe STS services programme are supported by procedures, screening practices, equipment information, operational records, and assurance processes that promote transparency and reduce uncertainty during STS planning and execution.

These vessels represent distinguished shipowners with a strong sense of safety responsibility, who have voluntarily chosen, rather than being required, to follow transparent processes and support a higher level of preparedness, documentation, and risk management in STS operations.

Relevance for energy companies, vetting teams and insurers

DYNAMARINe invites vetting departments of oil majors and energy companies, as well as insurance underwriting teams, including P&I Clubs and Hull & Machinery underwriters who use Equasis, to consider this information as part of their assessment processes.

The availability of STS-related data through EQUASIS provides an additional point of reference for stakeholders involved in evaluating vessels prior to STS operations and supports a more informed, consistent, and transparent approach to STS clearance.

The long-term vision of DYNAMARINe is that vessels identified through EQUASIS as DYNAMARINe member vessels, as well as those visible through partner platforms such as Signal Ocean, will be increasingly recognised by participating stakeholders as vessels operating within a transparent and structured STS assurance framework.

This recognition can support a more efficient clearance process by reducing unnecessary bureaucracy and repetitive document exchange, while allowing vetting departments, insurers, and other stakeholders to focus their assessment on the remaining operation-specific elements, including vessel compatibility, cargo requirements, location conditions, and any additional charterer, terminal, authority, or contractual requirements.

Furthermore, it should be emphasised that vessels shown on EQUASIS may also support sanctions screening, since past confirmed STS operations are visible online and can be considered part of the wider due diligence and risk assessment process.

Vessel compatibility and risk management

Although the visibility of DYNAMARINe-registered vessels on EQUASIS represents an important step forward, vessel compatibility will always remain subject to case-by-case assessment.

Each STS operation must continue to be evaluated according to its specific technical, operational, environmental, and compatibility parameters. Even within this process, however, the information available through Equasis constitutes an essential risk management tool, providing stakeholders with structured information before and during the assessment process.

Building the STS assurance ecosystem with vessels and STS service providers

In cooperation with stakeholders in the field of STS operations, maritime organisations and, in particular, Lloyd’s Register, which has undertaken the audit and assessment of STS service providers for the platform, DYNAMARINe is developing an ecosystem where all participants can work together under a common objective: to promote transparency, safety, assurance, and sustainability in STS operations.

This ecosystem is intended to bring together energy companies, STS service providers, vessel operators, and DYNAMARINe-registered vessels within a transparent assurance framework. Its objective is to support STS service providers operating under transparent safety standards and in alignment with the principles and expectations of the OCIMF STS Guidelines, while promoting a more consistent and reliable approach to STS risk management.
