Bangkok, Thailand, May 28, 2026 – Vietjet today unveiled its next-generation Boeing 737-8 fleet expansion program for Vietjet Thailand while celebrating the milestone of 50 million passengers transported across its Vietnam–Thailand flight network. The ceremony took place in the presence of Vietnam’s General Secretary and President To Lam, Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, and senior leaders from both countries.

Held during the Thailand–Vietnam Business Forum 2026, the event marked a new chapter in bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people connectivity as the two nations celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Expanding the next-generation Boeing fleet in Thailand

Vietjet Thailand is scheduled to receive its 10th Boeing 737-8 aircraft in May 2026 as part of the airline’s ongoing fleet modernization strategy in Thailand. From its current fleet of 22 aircraft, the airline aims to expand to 50 Boeing 737-8 aircraft in the coming years.

The expansion represents a major milestone in Vietjet’s broader next-generation Boeing fleet strategy, supporting the development of Thailand’s and the region’s aviation sector while laying the foundation for further international expansion. The modern fleet will strengthen connectivity between Thailand and key destinations across Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, China, India, and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

50 million passengers – A symbol of Vietnam–Thailand connectivity

After more than a decade of growth, Vietjet Group has transported a total of 360 million passengers across their flight networks. The Vietnam–Thailand network has served 50 million passengers through 40 routes and nearly 1,000 weekly flights, connecting 16 destinations in Vietnam with 11 localities in Thailand.

Beyond boosting tourism, trade, and investment, Vietjet Thailand has increasingly become part of everyday life for Thai people. The airline supports tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs across aviation, tourism, services, and logistics, while contributing approximately THB 4.5 billion to Thailand’s economy between 2022 and 2025.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Vietjet Group, said: “Flights do more than connect destinations — they connect people, cultures, and aspirations for growth. Vietjet will continue working alongside Vietnam, Thailand, and the wider region to build a more modern, sustainable, and inclusive connectivity network, creating new opportunities for people, businesses, and economies alike.”

As Vietnam and Thailand celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations, Vietjet continues to advance its long-term investment strategy in Thailand and across the region, contributing to peace, cooperation, and shared prosperity throughout ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific region.
