New Delhi, 18 September 2024 – The ITBP Headquarters witnessed a grand flag-in ceremony for the successful Mount Kamet and Mount Abi Gamin expedition. The ceremony was graced by the honorable Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Mr. Nityanand Rai, as the chief guest. The event witnessed the presence of senior officers of the force, expedition leaders and the brave Himveers who scaled the peaks.
Director General Mr. Rahul Rasgotra shared the details of this daring expedition in which a 25-member team, led by Deputy Commandant Mr. Anoop Kumar, successfully summited the 7,756-meter-high Mount Kamet and the 7,355-meter-high Mount Abi Gamin between 27th and 29th August. This achievement marks yet another milestone in ITBP’s legacy of mountaineering excellence.
Chief Guest Mr. Nityanand Rai honored these courageous mountaineers with cash awards and, in his address, expressed pride in the achievements of these brave Himveers. He emphasized that the Indo-Tibetan Border Police has always been a frontrunner in the field of mountaineering, and the Ministry of Home Affairs will continue to promote such expeditions and sports activities.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest. A memorable group photograph with the expedition team was taken, followed by refreshments to mark the end of the program.
This occasion has elevated the spirit of ITBP’s adventurous endeavors and set a new benchmark in mountaineering excellence.
