Tiranga Mountain Rescue New Delhi, May 8, 2026 – Tiranga Mountain Rescue (TMR), India’s pioneering high altitude rescue organization, celebrated its ten years of dedicated service to the nation with a photo exhibition titled “A Decade of Silent Service to the Nation” at Zorawar Hall and Ashoka Pavilion, Manekshaw Center, New Delhi.

The event was graced by Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh as Chief Guest, alongside Chief of Army Staff and Defence Secretary and other distinguished dignitaries, defence personnel and civilians.

The evening commenced with a short film showcasing TMR’s journey, followed by an inaugural address by Shri Rajnath Singh. In his remarks, the Raksha Mantri lauded the organization’s contribution:

“Tiranga Mountain Rescue has exemplified courage, discipline and selfless service in some of the most challenging terrains of our nation. Their silent yet impactful work reflects the true spirit of India’s defenders, and I commend their decade-long commitment to saving lives in the harshest conditions.”

Founder Mr. Hemant Sachdev expressed gratitude to the guests and reaffirmed TMR’s mission:

“This exhibition is not just a reflection of our journey, but a tribute to every volunteer who stood tall in the face of adversity. Our silent service has always been for the nation, and we remain committed to safeguarding lives in the mountains, where every rescue is a race against time.”

The exhibition featured powerful photographs capturing TMR’s operations across India’s high-altitude regions, highlighting the resilience of its volunteers and the lives touched by their efforts. TMR has emerged as a critical force in high-altitude and disaster rescue operations, having helped save over 300 plus soldiers while significantly reducing annual avalanche fatalities from 38 in 2016–17 to less than 3 by 2023–24.

The organization has also led and supported rescue missions during major disasters including the Manipur Tupul landslide (2022), Sikkim Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (2023), Wayanad floods (2024) and the Dharali landslide and flash floods (2025).

Among its most notable missions have been the retrieval of remains from the 1968 AN-12 air crash near Rohtang and recovery operations for BRO workers in Mana, Uttarakhand, reflecting TMR’s unwavering commitment to service even in the harshest terrains.
