Uttar Pradesh, 9th October 2025 – IG Drones, India’s leading defence drone and counter-drone systems organisation, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to establish an Advanced Drone Manufacturing and R&D Facility in the UP-Defence Corridor.
IG Drones proved its combat readiness during Operation Sindoor, where its indigenous Kamikaze FPV drones were deployed for precision strikes and officially acknowledged by the Government of India’s PIB release, cementing its role as a frontline defence partner. With recent conflicts from Ukraine to West Asia highlighting how low-cost, high-impact FPV and kamikaze drones are redefining warfare, India’s vast borders and evolving threats make indigenous drone production an urgent national security imperative.
This milestone reflects a defining moment in Bharat’s march towards Atmanirbhar Bharat — ensuring that the nation no longer depends on external powers for critical drone technologies. Under the MoU, the Government of Uttar Pradesh will provide comprehensive support, from approvals and permissions to enabling access to both state and central incentives, making Uttar Pradesh a strategic hub for aerospace and defence innovation.
Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, Founder & CEO, IG Drones, said:
“This MoU is not just an agreement, it is a commitment to India’s self-reliance in defence technology. Our new facility will serve as a hub of innovation, manufacturing, and employment, ensuring that next-generation indigenous drones are available for our armed forces and allies. The FPV Striker Drone is a prime example of this mission — Built in Bharat, Built for Bharat, Ready for the World. The success of its frontline trials at the Indo-China border reinforces that India no longer needs to look outside for critical technologies. We are building sovereignty in the skies, powered entirely by Indian innovation.”
Major General R.C. Padhi , Senior VP – R&D, IG Drones, said:
“The demand for indigenous FPV drones is surging globally, and India must seize this moment. Our upcoming facility will play a pivotal role in ensuring that production is scaled up to meet national security requirements while also exploring international opportunities. This drone is not just a machine, it’s a tactical force multiplier. By producing such systems at scale in Bharat, we ensure self-reliance, cost-effectiveness, and operational superiority for our forces.”
IG Drones is ramping up to mass-produce its armoured FPV Striker Drones, targeting an annual output of 100,000 units. Designed, developed, and tested entirely in India, the Striker represents a paradigm shift in tactical drone warfare engineered for rapid deployment, precision targeting, and extreme conditions. With the global drone market projected to cross USD 55 billion by 2030, over half driven by military demand, and recent conflicts from Ukraine to West Asia proving how low-cost, high-impact FPV and kamikaze drones are transforming modern warfare, India’s vast borders and evolving threat landscape make indigenous drone production not a choice but an urgent national security imperative
This MoU positions Uttar Pradesh as a critical hub for indigenous defence innovation while expanding IG Drones’ national manufacturing footprint. It marks a new chapter in India’s journey towards technological sovereignty — where cutting-edge defence solutions are not imported but proudly “Built in Bharat, Built for Bharat, Ready for the World.
