Nagpur June 21, 2026: Headquarters Maintenance Command and all its units celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with great enthusiasm and active participation by Air Warriors, Defence Civilians, DSC personnel and their family members. The event was organised in consonance with this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighting the importance of Yoga in fostering physical fitness, mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle across all age groups.

The main event at Headquarters Maintenance Command was graced by Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, VSM, PhD, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command. Senior officers, personnel and family members participated wholeheartedly in the mass yoga session conducted in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol prescribed by the Ministry of Ayush.

The programme commenced with a brief introduction on the significance of International Day of Yoga and the transformative role of Yoga in promoting holistic health. Participants performed various Yogasanas, Pranayama, meditation and relaxation techniques under the guidance of trained instructors. The session emphasized the benefits of Yoga in enhancing flexibility, improving concentration, reducing stress and ensuring healthy ageing.

Air Marshal Yalla Umesh underscored the relevance of Yoga as a timeless gift of India to humanity and encouraged all personnel and their families to incorporate Yoga into their daily routine.

The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from personnel of all age groups, reaffirming the commitment of Maintenance Command towards promoting health, fitness and well-being. Similar Yoga sessions, awareness programmes and wellness activities were conducted simultaneously across all units under Maintenance Command.
