Hyderabad. 28 January 2026.  After a turbulent 2025 with Indian flagship carriers Air India  and Indigo Wings India 2026, the country’s flagship civil aviation and aerospace event, took off in grand style at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad, marking the beginning of four days of intensive industry engagement, innovation showcases, and strategic dialogue. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister for Civil Aviation,  K. Rammohan Naidu, who arrived in Hyderabad aboard an Air India flight along with senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Air India CEO Mr Campbell Wilson, reiterating the significance of the occasion for India’s rapidly growing aviation sector.

The ceremonial arrival symbolised the spirit of connectivity, collaboration, and growth that defines Wings India. The inauguration at Begumpet Airport, a historic aviation hub, reflected the seamless blend of India’s rich aviation legacy with its future-ready ambitions.

While speaking with the media after landing,  K. Rammohan Naidu highlighted the transformational journey of Indian civil aviation, emphasising that aviation in India is no longer a privilege for a select few but a powerful enabler of economic growth, regional integration, and social inclusion. He underlined the success of the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, rapid airport infrastructure expansion, fleet modernisation, and the government’s continued focus on innovation, safety, sustainability, and self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.

The presence of Air India CEO Campbell Wilson alongside senior ministry officials reinforced the strong partnership between the government and industry in driving reforms, expanding connectivity, and positioning India as a major global aviation hub. The delegation’s arrival aboard a commercial Air India flight also reflected the renewed dynamism of the national carrier and its central role in India’s aviation resurgence.

Wings India 2026, organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, FICCI, and key industry stakeholders, is expected to bring together policymakers, airline leaders, aircraft manufacturers, airport operators, MRO providers, technology firms, start-ups, and investors from across the world. Over the next four days, the event will host high-level conferences, business-to-business meetings, aircraft displays, technology demonstrations, and knowledge sessions focused on the future of aviation, aerospace manufacturing, drones, sustainability, and digital transformation.

With India now the world’s third-largest domestic aviation market and on track to handle over 300 million passengers annually by the end of the decade, Wings India 2026 is being seen as a strategic platform to showcase the country’s rapid growth, robust policy framework, and expanding aerospace ecosystem. The event also aims to catalyse investments, forge global partnerships, and strengthen India’s position as a key driver of global aviation growth.
