CAE signs commercial aviation training solutions contract with Qatar Airways

• Five CAE 7000XR Series full-flight simulators and two CAE 500XR Series flight training devices for Boeing 777X and 737MAX pilot training

• Expansion of training centre operations agreement for the next 15 years

Farnborough, United Kingdom. 19 July 2018. CAE announced at the 2018 Farnborough Airshow that it has sold five CAE-built full-flight simulators – 3x Boeing 777X and 2x Boeing 737MAX – and two flight training devices – one Boeing 777X and one Boeing 737MAX to support the growing pilot training needs of the airline. This order includes the world’s second airline-operated Boeing 777X full-flight simulator.

The innovative CAE7000XR Series FFSs and CAE 500XR FTDs will be delivered at Qatar Airways’ training centre in Doha, Qatar, beginning in 2019. In addition, CAE extended its training centre operations services, to operate and maintain the training equipment suite for the airline for the next 15 years. “CAE has been our training partner of choice for more than a decade, providing state-of-the-art training equipment and training centre operation services,” said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency  Akbar Al Baker. “We are proud to expand on our relationship and continue to count on CAE’s excellent support and services.

We are delighted to that our pilots will continue to train on the most innovative training equipment suite”. “We are pleased to be Qatar Airways’ training partner of choice and to support our airline partner’s growth and training needs for its new Boeing 777X and 737MAX fleet,” said Nick Leontidis, CAE Group President, Civil Aviation Training Solutions. “The future of aviation and demand for pilot training in the Middle East is on the rise. This new training equipment agreement is a testament to our commitment to provide Qatar Airways with the most comprehensive training solutions for many years to come. We also look forward to supporting our partner with the entry into service of the new 777X aircraft.”

CAE and Qatar Airways share a relationship that spans over 15 years, with the delivery of innovative training equipment solutions and training centre operation services. Qatar Airways currently operates and has on order 8 CAE full-flight simulators, covering Airbus A320, A330, A350, Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft platforms. This new Boeing 777X and 737MAX FFSs’ order bring the total number of simulators purchased from CAE to 13.
