Paris, France (June 16, 2025) – De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (De Havilland Canada) is pleased to announce the sale of a Dash 8-400 aircraft to Barrick Gold Corporation (Barrick), one of the world’s largest gold mining companies. The aircraft will support the Barrick’s Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC) operations in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.

This acquisition marks a historic milestone as the Dash 8-400 becomes the first of its kind to operate in Pakistan. The addition of this advanced regional turboprop will significantly enhance personnel transport and cargo movement for RDMC, which is undertaking one of the most significant mining projects in South Asia.

“We are proud to support Barrick’s operational expansion in Pakistan with the Dash 8-400, a proven performer in rugged and remote environments,” said Ryan DeBrusk, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for De Havilland Canada. “This aircraft is ideally suited to meet the demands of mining logistics, offering unmatched performance, reliability, and fuel efficiency.”

The Dash 8-400’s speed, short takeoff and landing capabilities, and robust design make it a perfect solution for serving RDMC’s challenging terrain. Its low operating costs and environmental efficiency also align with Barrick’s sustainability and safety standards.

“Having the Dash 8-400 as part of our fleet ensures safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for our personnel and equipment,” said John Henderson, Director of Aviation for Barrick. “This investment underscores our commitment to building and operating to RDMC’s world-class standards.”
