The event, held at the NADP campus, was meticulously curated under the powerful theme, ‘START LOCAL, SCALE GLOBAL: TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT FOR VIKSIT BHARAT- DREAM. DEVELOP. DISRUPT’. This pivotal gathering was designed to arm India’s brightest minds—innovators, academics, students, and entrepreneurs—with the strategic acumen required to navigate the complex yet rewarding landscape of technology management and intellectual property rights in the 21st century. The workshop served as a critical confluence of policy, practice, and potential, fostering a deeper, collective understanding of how robust intellectual property (IP) frameworks are indispensable for transforming nascent local innovations into globally competitive enterprises. The day was marked by insightful keynote addresses from national IP and innovation experts, a dynamic panel discussion with Nagpur’s leading entrepreneurs, and an interactive ideation forum that showcased emerging talent.

Dr. A S Khan (Retd. IOFS-NADP), a veteran of India's defence production sectorThe event commenced with a powerful welcome address by Dr. A S Khan (Retd. IOFS-NADP), a veteran of India’s defence production sector. Dr. Khan set an urgent and patriotic tone for the day’s proceedings, emphasizing the imperative for a robust IP ecosystem to achieve the national goal of Atmanirbharta (self-reliance), particularly in the critical domain of defence technology. “Our journey towards becoming a developed nation—a Viksit Bharat—is inextricably linked to our ability to innovate and protect those innovations,” Dr. Khan stated. “This workshop is a crucial step in building the intellectual infrastructure needed to support our nation’s technological aspirations. “Following the welcome address, the inaugural keynote was delivered by Shri Umesh Rathod, Indovation Manager at the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)-Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell. Representing the government’s vision, Shri Rathod delivered an insightful speech highlighting the commitment to forging a seamless pipeline from academic research to commercial enterprise.

“Innovation is the engine of progress, and intellectual property is the fuel. Without robust protection and a clear strategy for commercialization, even the most brilliant ideas risk remaining dormant,” Shri Rathod declared. “Through its Innovation Cell, the Ministry of Education is dedicated to equipping our students and faculty with the tools to not just invent, but to protect, manage, and scale their innovations for national and global impact. The mantra is to Dream, Develop, and Disrupt.”

A major highlight of the day was the highly anticipated panel discussion, ‘Collaborate to Innovate: Academia-Startup Partnerships in Tech Development’. This session, expertly moderated by Shri Umesh Rathod, delved into the practicalities of co-creating market-ready solutions and the crucial role of venture capital. Dr. Mazumdar skillfully guided the session, encouraging presenters to refine their value propositions and challenging them to think critically about scalability and market impact, further strengthening the local innovation ecosystem.
