Versailles, July 24, 2025 – Reports relayed by the media are currently circulating regarding the contract between KNDS France and the Czech Republic for the delivery of 62 CAESAR® 8×8 systems to the Czech Army (ACR).
CAESAR® 8×8 is in service with the armed forces of Ukraine since mid-2023. By the end of 2024, each system had fired thousand rounds, making it, with the CAESAR® 6×6 version, the most combat-proven truck-mounted 155mm / 52-caliber self-propelled howitzer. CAESAR® 8×8 will be part of the overall indirect fire capability that is being built by the ACR. This 8×8 version of CAESAR® family of artillery systems offers enhanced operational performances and technical characteristics, compared to the in-service CAESAR® 6×6.
The CAESAR® 8×8 contract will further strengthen our long-standing partnership with the Army of the Czech Republic and the Czech Defence industry, which is significantly involved in the project. Certification of Czech made ammunition and integration of CAESAR® 8×8 into the AFCS (Artillery Firing Control System) selected by the Czech Republic are going-on with the support of KNDS France.
A successful CAESAR® 8×8 firing demonstration took place in September 2024, confirming ranges beyond 40 km.
KNDS France reaffirms its full commitment and mobilization to ensure the successful execution of this contract, enabling Czech Republic to meet its NATO obligations.
