New Delhi, 23rd Jan 2026 – Jindal Defence Systems Private Limited (JDSPL), a JV between the Jindal Group and global firearms major Taurus Armas, has secured a significant order (>5000 units) from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) for the supply of its indigenously manufactured TS9 9mm Pistol, under the Government of India’s Make in India initiative.
The order marks a key milestone in India’s efforts to strengthen domestic defence manufacturing capabilities and reduce reliance on imports of critical small arms. The TS9 Pistol, manufactured in India, successfully met stringent technical and operational requirements prescribed by CAPF forces during various trials while beating competition from other suppliers.
The development reinforces Jindal Defence Systems’ strategic role in India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem and aligns with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, while contributing to skill development, employment generation, and supply-chain localisation.
This contract reflects the growing confidence of Indian security forces in globally benchmarked, India-made defence platforms, supported by international technology partnerships and robust domestic manufacturing infrastructure.
The award of this contract represents a proud moment for India, further strengthening the country’s position as an emerging global leader in indigenous defence manufacturing. “
