New Delhi. 28 October 2024. At the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi inaugurated the Swavlamban 2024 exhibition, a flagship event dedicated to advancing innovation in India’s naval sector, co-hosted by Indian Navy and Society of Defence Manufacturers (SIDM). The exhibition brings together young entrepreneurs, startups, and key industry stakeholders to showcase cutting-edge technologies and explore potential collaborations with the Indian Navy and other defence agencies. Designed to promote indigenization and self-reliance, Swavlamban 2024 highlights India’s growing defence ecosystem and the nation’s drive for technological self-sufficiency.
During his tour of the exhibition, Admiral Tripathi explored several displays, including an advanced anti-drone gun created by an Indian startup. Enthusiastic about the innovative solutions presented by the nation’s youth, he remarked on the diversity and creativity on display, with around 115 stalls representing entities like the Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Indian Coast Guard, and the Border Security Force (BSF). “This exhibition has provided a wonderful experience to witness the capabilities of our young entrepreneurs and the potential for future advancements. The variety on display reflects the vibrant spirit of innovation in India,” Admiral Tripathi said.
Navy Chief elaborated on the significance of the Swavlamban initiative, which was launched in 2022. He highlighted the Navy’s commitment to indigenization through collaborations with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the Indian industry to meet operational needs and bridge capability gaps. “Swavlamban is a crucial event in our calendar, underscoring our journey towards self-reliance that began over six decades ago. It embodies our aspiration to innovate and indigenize,” Vice Admiral Swaminathan explained, emphasizing the event’s role in fostering partnerships with startups and industry leaders to address naval challenges swiftly.
The Swavlamban 2024 exhibition, held on October 28 and 29, showcases products from emerging technologies, including air and surface surveillance systems, autonomous vehicles for land, air, and underwater operations, as well as developments in AI and quantum technology. The seminar is set to provide significant momentum to India’s indigenization efforts, showcasing the strides made in defence technology and the potential for further advancements.
