Bogotá, 28 May 2025: As part of its ongoing diplomatic initiative to garner global support against terrorism, an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Dr. Shashi Tharoor began a strategic visit to the Republic of Colombia. Scheduled from 29 to 31 May 2025, the visit is taking place in the backdrop of Operation Sindoor and underscores India’s unwavering stand against terrorism in all its forms.
The delegation, comprising parliamentarians from diverse political backgrounds and a senior diplomat, aims to carry forward India’s unified message of zero tolerance towards terrorism. The visit also marks an important milestone in India’s efforts to expand its diplomatic footprint in Latin America, with Colombia emerging as a key regional partner.
The delegation includes MPs Sarfraz Ahmad (JMM), Ganti Harish Madhur (TDP), Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP), Milind Deora (Shiv Sena), Bhubaneswar Kalita (BJP), and Tejasvi Surya (BJP). Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu, former Indian Ambassador to the United States, is also part of the team.
During their stay in Bogotá, the Indian MPs are scheduled to meet Members of the Colombian Congress, Cabinet Ministers, strategic affairs think tanks, and media representatives. These engagements are expected to reinforce the bilateral narrative on counter-terrorism cooperation and bolster India’s strategic presence in Latin America.
